Basic Cross Pattern by Lyn Morton

Here it is, everyone! I finished the Basic Cross Pattern from Tatting Patterns by Lyn Morton. The cross will go at the back neck edge of the liturgical stole to cover the seam. It measures just under 4" across, exactly the size Mom wants.

I'll use Lyn's Traditional Cross pattern from the same book to make the two crosses for the front of the stole. The scan really darkens the color of this gorgeous thread, Marilee's Golden Glow, size 20. I may wind the next shuttle today, but I think I've done enough tatting for the weekend. What do you think, Mom?

  1. Well done, It's perfect, no stopping you now.

As to the dark scan, yup it does make the thread look darker but you can always brighten your scan till it looks right to you.

  4. So pretty finished. The HDT works well with this pattern. It kind of looks all "glowy" like "tiger-eye" it's kinda cool.

  5. The cross looks great and very pretty colours. Do show us a photo of the finished stole if possible. I have purchased some HDT, but just can't decide to use them.

  6. After using HDTs, you don't want to use the normal threads. And yes, scanning actually darkens the thread but sometimes, it shows real well for certain colors.

  8. How pretty! It almost looks like rich wood -- appropriately so. Looks like you've got your tatting arm back!
