Snowflake #9

This snowflake was a lot of fun to tat! It's done in one continuous round. "Daisy Chain Snowflake" is from A Veritable Tatted Blizzard by Samantha Melnychuk. It measures almost 4" across. I used size 20 Knitty Gritty HDT from Marilee Rockley aka Yarnplayer. I can't believe I only have two snowflakes left to tat from this book!

  2. This is so fun to see your tatting from this book. Not only are you doing a fabulous job on the snowflakes; you're inspiring me to want to tat some patterns from the same book that I have! :)

  5. Yep, I love this one too, all the Josephine rings are so well formed and make this snowflake very special!

  6. This is a very interesting design - a good use of Josephine Knots (JK). How do you get your JKs to lay flat. Mine would usually have a slight twist in it.

  7. I got my copy of this book in the mail yesterday, Diane! You were my inspiration. I'll be tatting up a blizzard this weekend. Very pretty, by the way. I really like that color.

  8. Thank you, everyone!

Jon, I don't know how I got them to lay flat. I pinched the JKs between my thumb and finger as I closed them, and I wasn't able to close them all the way... maybe that's the secret!?

  9. I like this snowflake too!! I like all the snowflakes you have been tatting and they look great in all the beautiful colors of HDT! I was wondering if you could tell me a little about Samantha's book. I am looking for a book with snowflakes for my Mom. She just likes tatting rings and chains, not split rings or split chains. Are most of the patterns in this book easy patterns or do they contain a lot of split rings? Thanks for showing all the snowflakes you are making. What will you do with them all? Will they go on your tree? Have a great day!!

  10. Samantha's book is great! The only thing I had to learn was a Josephine knot, which was very simple. I'd recommend this book to anyone!
