Pure indulgence!

I"m sure many of you know about LadyShuttleMaker's Mondo Monday Giveaway... well, I was the lucky first winner! Believe it or not, the gorgeous HDTs she sent me are the perfect match for my CQ block. To the left of the shuttle is "Leaf Braid" from Tatting With Visual Patterns by Mary Konior in size 20 silk... yes, silk! If you haven't tatted with silk yet, you are missing out on a very special experience!

Oh, and the indulgence... I bought one of the Shuttle Brothers engraved silver shuttles as an anniversary present to me! Dave told me years ago that if I wanted jewelry, I had to buy it for myself because it just didn't do anything for him. Well, I count this beautiful shuttle as a luxurious piece of jewelry for my hands! I guess I must like me! I wonder what my next indulgence will be? ; )

  10. Hi Diane,

Wow! Keeping up with you is like trying to catch the Energizer Bunny!

First of all - congratulations on your anniversary! Glad you had a nice day.

Next, you're really making progress in the CQ world! The colors are beautiful, and tatting is a perfect embellishment. And Sherry's thread IS perfect! I'm afraid I haven't mastered the embroidery part of CQ. I needed templates to get the stitches spaced evenly on my tree skirt!

Then there is the knitting! Socks, dishcloths. And doing several at a time!

In addition, organizing things in the computer - something else that takes time - and computer savvy!

But this is what I mainly wanted to write about. I was delighted to discover that you tat using (what I call) the 'crochet hold'. I thought I was the only one!
I wouldn't be able to tat otherwise!

    Always enjoy reading your blog!

  11. Wow! BEAUTIFUL shuttle! I haven't worked with silk yet - I'm still too tat accident prone...

I was blog hopping and when I saw this blog I thought of you. She has a lot of tutorials on different embroidery stitches - some I've not seen before.

  12. Hiya,
It is hard to see the shuttle in your picture for it is wink back at your camera. I have one of these shuttles. Mine is a celtic one and I had them personalize mine. I have mine and my husband's name on it and the date we got married. It is a beautiful shuttle. It also has Celtic Dream Weaver on it too...so it is very special and personalized too.

  14. Let's hear it for INDULGENCE; too many women think they don't deserve that special item (what ever their choice may be) ~ Fie, I say! We all deserve our heart's desire at least once in a lifetime ~ or many times during one's life. Good for you!
The shuttle is stunning and I enlarged the photo so I could see the fabrics...just yummy.
I love tatting with LadyShuttleMaker's silks. I have a box full (yes, I DO deserve it ~ I've said it and I'm glad) of her silks. The hard part is choosing WHAT project to use the silk upon ~ because it is special.
Right now it's going to be a part of "Sheep" doily ~ the trellis will be "Middle Earth" color in her silk. X Bev
