Hot off the shuttles!

Here it is! I am thrilled with my second Primrose Path doily! I'm glad I paid attention to where the color change occurred when I started each motif. I think it makes a big difference. I would show it next to the first doily, but my friend Nancy asked me for a doily to hold an angel planter that was given to her as a get well gift. She's been ill since February, and I'm glad she asked me for one of my tatted doilies.

Dave noticed that I was having trouble finding a place to photograph my tatting, so he made this table for me. He got the idea from a table he saw at a floral shop. He helped cut a tree down at a friend's house last fall, and he spirited the wood pieces into the basement without my knowledge. I never go down to the basement any more, so he knew the project would remain a secret! He surprised me with it on Sunday. I'll have to practice taking pictures in different lighting, so I guess I'd better keep tatting!

I think this may be the perfect home for my newly finished doily. The colors go well with my little creamer from Tom Jones Pottery. Hmm... maybe I should have dusted first!

  2. Another lovely doily, and a wonderful wood pedestal. As I recall, your DH has made many clever things for you to display your tatting, shuttles, etc.

It's difficult for me to keep up with all your projects. It's sure entertaining, though!

  4. What a fabulous piece of work that is. The colour changes are very good - you are right about that and you did it very well. I'm not sure if you cut the thread to begin at the right place, like knitting?

I had to laugh - you don't go into your basement anymore? That is hilarious!

Great looking table. How lovely to have a handy Dave in the house!

  5. Ah .. you have finished it too. Lovely. I did not pay attention to the starting colour when I did my Primrose Path because the colour shades are rather subtle to make much difference. But yours certain made an impact.
    Love your display table too.

  12. WOW!!! That doily is ABSOLUTELY lovely! By starting each motif in the same place of the variegated repeat you created another pattern for the eye to follow. It compliments Mary Konior's pattern beautifully!

How thoughtful of you husband to create something so beautiful for you to photograph your tatting on! He is very talented!

  13. Love it! You always do such fine work!

If you don't frequent the basement, however will you monitor the clandestine operations that are sure to take place under your very nose?

There could be underwear gnomes...or thread-eating bacteria (necrotizing filitus). (*evil.grins*)

  18. I'm so impressed with the pedestal and the doily, its great when two crafts come together. I better not tell "I'm in the garage" or else he will want that wood!!!!
Many many years ago I tatted this pattern but it never looked as good as yours, in fact I framed it and in the end it was given to a charity shop because no one wanted it. But yours will be greatly loved and admired.
