Diane's Great Hanky Challenge!

Update #2: If the name has been removed, the hanky has been packaged for mailing. Thanks for such a wonderful response!

Update: I'm sorry I wasn't clear. Would you mind choosing just one hanky for now so that more people can have an opportunity to try tatting hanky edgings? Thanks!

Here's the scoop, tatting friends... I've gone a tad crazy bidding on vintage hankies on eBay, and I've gotten some tremendous deals. However, there's no way I'll have time to tat edgings for all of these hankies!

Would you like to take part in a little hanky madness? Choose one of the hankies below, post your choice in the comments so that everyone will know which ones are taken (I'll try to keep up with marking off the ones that are spoken for), send me your mailing address, and I'll get one of these little beauties out to you ASAP! There are absolutely no strings attached. Believe me, I've kept plenty that I'm not quite ready to give up, and I still have far too many on hand!

I'm not good at coming up with names, but I'll try to name the hankies in groups that will help both of us out. First come, first serve. Please note that some of these hankies already have some machine-made lace attached to them, so you might have to do a little snipping.

I hope you'll post pictures of what you do! Happy tatting!

Group A: All gone!

I'm not sure why this picture turned sideways, but...
Group B: All gone!

Group C: All gone!

Oops! Another one turned sideways!
Group D: All gone!

Sideways pictures seem to be a theme here!
Group E: All gone!

Group F: All gone!

Group G: All gone!

Group H: All gone!

Group I: Yellow Mother - for shannon_in_love

Group J: All gone!

Group K: All gone!

Let the hanky madness begin!

  2. Diane,
I'd love the set in Group H (Yellow and White Flowers, Red Rose, Pink Flowers) if they are not yet taken.
I have not tatted edgings for hankies before and hope this will be motivation for me to start on one. Thank you for your generosity.

  6. I'd love the Get Well hanky in Group G - sadly it's going to be too late to tat an edging and send it to an old schoolfriend of mine - but will be in her memory perhaps, for someone else.

  18. You are very generous! I have not tried tatting a hanky edging yet- this may be the beginning of many more projects! You have great taste and luck in your ebay finds, it is hard to pick a favourite...if the yellow and white flowered one from Group K is still available, that would be my pick. If it is not, surprise me! (And since I have not tatted a hanky edging before, I may be asking for tips!)

  22. May I have the pink flower in Group I? I'm working on an edging pattern that may work up into a lesson (that's the goal, anyway), and I believe I have some colors that would be perfect for it!

I'd be glad to send postage money as well as pay for the hanky, if you'll tell me how much!

  25. You are very generous with your giveaways. I've never done a tatted edging before, I'm been scouring all of my local thrift stores for old hankies in good condition, to no avail. I would be interested in group B's Yellow Flowers, if its not taken otherwise group F's Pink Flowers. Once again thank you for the giveaway.

  32. Hi Diane: If I am not too late I would love to receive the Pink Flowers in Group K. This is so generous and kind of you to offer so many of your findings to others. Happy weekend my dear...

  33. Diane, you are so generous! I fully intended passing on this one, but the Daisies in group D are still there and they would look so good with a certain yellow and white variegate I have yet to try... I have no idea if I'll make the time to do this in this lifetime, but you make it look like such a great opportunity! You have my address.

  34. Diane, so sweet of you to do this! I haven't tried hankies yet but I'm willing to give it a go. I'm interested in set G, the yellow flower if it's still available. Thanks, Linda

  36. Better a cow’s tail than no tail at all!
I love doing hankies. Please choose one and send it my way. I’ll be glad to pay postage. It’s nice of you to share. I really like the “Mother” hankie; but, it’s probably spoken for. Just pick an old fashioned one...and I’ll be a happy clam.

  38. Hi Diane, I always seem to be slow off the mark!! You are so generous - are your hankies all gone now? If the brown and blue one in the first photo (right-hand side of Group A) is still available, I'd love to make an edging for it. No worries if I'm too late, I'll enjoy seeing what other people come up with.
    Thanks for your great offer!
