Oliver Twists Scottish Heather

At Christmastime I ordered myself a little present, the Scottish Heather collection of Oliver Twists hand-dyed machine thread from DS9 Designs

I really didn't know what I wanted to make with these lovely threads, so I just left them sitting out in my sewing room to be admired.

Then, about a week ago, Erin at The Shuttle Shop contacted me about tatting some motifs for some of Chris's "Tatted Shuttles," which are epoxy shuttles with tatting embedded in them. I like using Kersti Anear's "Stumpy" for these shuttles.

I'm very pleased with the way these turned out, although I think a little bit of blocking is in order. : )

So pleased to see that these threads can be used for tatting, when I saw the reel in a charity shop I had no idea that it would be suitable. Your colours are stunning.

Really tatting with sewing thread?? However do your eyes handle it? ... They are lovely by the way, and will make super Tatted Shuttles.

Ooh, I love those colors. You made this with sewing thread? I've thought about that, looking at my mom's beautiful "Lava" line of quilting thread, but it seems so tiny! How big did it come out to?

That thread is eye catching! Me thinks I have to try that one day. Nice job, Diane! Now you have to do a dozen or two Spinning Wheels with it. ;)

Gorgeous thread colours! I haven't progressed yet beyond the two small rings I tatted last month! Visiting your blog certainly inspires me once again to tat!!
