The play is over!

...and considering the heat, it was an overwhelming success! The kids were able to raise $2,000 for the drama club... fantastic!

Sorry... no video yet, but some of the parents did take some great pictures.

Daughter Carol front and center singing "Step in Time" from Mary Poppins
The moms eavesdropping on the girls during "Dancing Queen"
Daughter Carol singing "Dream a Little Dream of Me" while the high school kids waltzed
Daughter Carol in "Seize the Day from Newsies
The parents singing "Kids" from  Bye, Bye Birdie
The entire cast singing "One" from A Chorus Line
There were many more songs in the play, which was written by my daughters Carol and Joanne. They called it How to Succeed in Grant Park Drama Club Without Really Trying. The premise was that four future sixth grade students are trying to decide if they want to be in drama club when they enter middle school. They find a treasure map of clues, leading them to different types of musical numbers.

It was all great fun, and I'm glad I did it, but I sure am happy to have it behind me. Now maybe my life will get back to normal. I'm way behind on writing, reading, and commenting on blogs, and I haven't tatted very much.

I did finish Lily's Spinning Wheel glass mat this morning. So, I think I'll make a trip to the post office today... after I take a nap!

  1. Beautiful tatting love the color too!

  2. Again, another beautiful glass mat!!! :)

  3. Doing plays are always fun but are sooo much work and take soooo much time! Glad you had a good time with it!
    The glass mat looks great.

  4. thx for sharing. Glad you enjoyed the Summer theatre & addition funds were raised.

  5. Looks like you all had fun - and raised a good amount too.

  6. your work on spinning wheels is so perfect I am speech less. I love to go to plays and the ones put on by high schools and colleges I like the most because I feel they are just as good as the ones down town that takes little more money. I like the live acting, I have helped out many times with background props and helped paint lots of things, when my kids where younger last child is not that interested though. Sounds like you had a great time.

  7. Beautiful spinning wheel, you always pick such lovely colours.
It's looks like your play/musical was fun wish I had been there to see it. I am sure you have earned a rest now

  8. I can't believe you had enough energy left to finish the mat! The thread colors always look good in that pattern! This has been quite a busy summer for you! So glad the musical was a success, and I admire your spirit and energy. So much talent in the family!

  9. It looks like it was a wonderful play, Diane, and so much fun! I can't believe your daughters wrote the entire thing. Wow!!! I never would have been able to get up on stage to sing and dance. I'm far too shy, so I give you tons of credit...and you looked adorable too! - Your spinning wheel is just beautiful!! xo

Just like you, I love getting feedback!
