And it begins...

I really planned to start the so-called "Monster Doily" by Jan Stawasz on January 1, the perfect time for new beginnings. However, now that the Christmas bustle has died down, I just couldn't resist getting started. I'm using size 20 Lizbeth, and I'm really interested to see how large it will be.

The real question is, will I have time to try tatting all the other ideas I have in mind?

  1. Ohhh my, here we go! Fox's ended up being 27 inches, but I don't really know how perle cotton sizes compare to cordonnet sizes, so that's not much to go by.

I think the key is to take breaks from it and tat the occasional smaller piece. Then you can return to the doily with renewed interest and energy.

  2. Which is the "Monster"doily? - the one in the red book? - or the pattern in the Polish magazine we all bought via intatters?

  6. Oh, I think you'll need to take a break once in a while from that doily. And I know you have a couple of extra shuttles around to use on other projects ;-) You've made a nice start. It will be interesting to find how big it gets.

  8. OMG! It is going to be a true monster. DMC Perle 12 is kind of a #70 if pulled tight... Have fun with this. It is such a lovely pattern. I'll bet it is inches on completion! HAPPY NEW YEAR. : )

  10. For me, its better to have a long list so that we have many choices. Having said that, it may also makes us think of new ideas which may not help at all.
