Wash day

Do you prewash your fabric? I do most of the time. It's something my mom taught me to do, and old habits die hard.

Here are my goodies from yesterday's shopping spree. The fabric worked out to about $1 per yard. I'm not sure what I'll do with all of it yet, but I'm prepared for lots of Christmas presents!

I think this will be the last of the crocheted scarves for a while. I did enjoy making them, but I much prefer thread crochet to crocheting with yarn.

I finished another woven scarf today as well. If we get any snow this winter, I know this scarf will keep Dave warm when he's clearing the driveway!

So far, I'm really enjoying tatting the Jan Stawasz doily. It's a pretty straightforward pattern. All I need to do is stay focused!

  1. Wow, your fabric cupboard is well stocked! I mean to prewash fabric, but don't always get around to it. At one time I thought that modern fabrics didn't require it, but that's not necessarily true. I look forward to seeing what happens to them all, and your other projects too.

  2. That's a wonderful bargain for the fabric - more projects for you to think about! And you seem to be able to whip up a scarf at the drop of a hat! I'm so impressed with your loom skills!

But I'm even more amazed that you're starting the 'monster' doily! I get weak in the knees (and wrists!) just thinking about it! I really wouldn't have the patience! It will be fun to follow your progress.

Happy New Year to you and your family, and I know you'll have a great time with the Tollway Tatters!

  3. I'm really jealous of your fabric stash!!! Mine's looking very depleted nowadays. Time for me to shop, I guess but I'll have to use eBay as there's nowhere near me that isn't drop dead mega expensive.

Nice stash! I love a good bargain. Yes, I always wash my cotton fabric before I sew too.

  8. I try to pre-wash material before I use it but it doesn't always happen. But it looks like a great new stash! :-)
What a great start on the new year.
