Not again!

Yes, I did it again. I messed up on the motif for Round 5 of the Jan Stawasz doily.

Just look... an extra two double stitches and an extra picot. Sigh! Snip, snip, snip, snip... start over.

At last! Success!

The really good news is that I now have the pattern for this motif down pat!

I wove another scarf today. This is a short one, only about 42" long. It's just a nice size for wrapping around my neck and overlapping inside the neckline of my coat. I did try and keep track of how long it took to weave. I started about 8 a.m., and I finished twisting the fringe around 2 p.m. No, I was not weaving the whole time. I worked on laundry, talked on the phone, tatted a little, and fixed myself a nice lunch. I'm guessing that it really took me about three hours... much faster than knitting or crocheting!

One of the joys of working on my Saori loom is that I'm using a prewound warp. I'd have to check, but I think the one I purchased was 30 meters long. That means I can do a lot of weaving without having to take time to warp the loom for each project. I'm almost to the end of this warp, so I'll try and weave the rest tomorrow. That way I'll be able to spend Sunday afternoon putting the new warp on the loom. I know that will take all afternoon!

  1. Yep, that's the kind of thing that will drive you crazy for the rest of your life if you don't fix it. It wouldn't throw the overall proportions off noticeably, and yet there's just nothing worse than an extra picot sticking out like a sore thumb! I'm glad you caught it before you were too far in.

  3. The doily is looking nice and is a real booger :) I had to pin a ribbon on one side so I add it on right. Your scarf is very nice like the color of this one too!

  4. Ohhhhhh, Diane! I feel your pain! The memory of all the snips I had to make while tatting the Monster makes me shudder! Miranda is right. It's good you caught the error and corrected it. And don't worry. You will become very friendly with the scissors... Lots of sojourns ahead! it is a very big piece.lol!
