Sneak peek...

I started test tatting a pattern when I got home from school today. Can you guess the theme? The mitten shuttle is a Clover that I decorated a few years ago. The bobbin shuttle is a La Cossette decorated with a Christmas tree on one side and a reindeer on the other. Now can you guess? ;-)

I took my Heart Doily from Land of Laces to school with me today. I still have some third and fourth grade students who are interested in tatting. In fact, they asked me to bring some "crochet hook shuttles" to school for them. I did, and they are very excited! Of course I spent some of my lunch time tatting. Between that and my demonstrations for the kids, I managed to get about half way round the doily today.

Round 16 of my Jan Stawasz Masterpiece is off to a good start. I'm 1/10 of the way around!

  4. Ah yes, I know what the test tat is! Glad the children are still interested in tatting, I'm sure they always will be, even when they no longer practice it.

  5. Great progress on the Heart doily! As I understand it, the beautiful hearts edging is done independently, and then it's cleverly attached as you do a 'connecting' round to the main doily. Such a wonderful design!

You're also becoming 'shuttle-dexterous' (new word!), as you seem to be able to easily use both post and bobbin shuttles! I'm glad you're becoming more comfortable with the bobbin shuttles. One advantage is that that you won't have to 'use up' the thread that's left, as you can just leave thread on the bobbin and get a new one!

  6. Hello! Nice to see another person who like my Heart Doily!
I hope pattern is clear and you don't have any problems with it!
And it's funny - you make two doilies patterns from Poland in the same time :-) Mr. Jan Stawasz taught me to make tatted lace 8 years ago!
    So.. Greetings from Poland!
