For some strange reason, I haven't been able to add pictures to Blogger the past two days. There didn't seem to be much point to blogging without pictures. This morning I went through my settings and found a couple of draft posts, so I deleted them and now Blogger seems to be working fine.

One of the third grade girls wanted to make a necklace out of the neckband of her t-shirt for the play. So, Sunday afternoon, I made the necklace she wanted. After looking at the picture, I can see that it needs a little cleaning up, which can be done fairly easily. Maybe I'll surprise her and crochet a little edging around it to clean it up!

My latest Spinning Wheel glass mat in Fiore from Slovakia is coming along nicely.

I love the way the newest mermaid tail afghan is working up. It really looks like it belongs under the sea!

Last night the four retirees (two teachers, one guidance counselor, and one secretary) were invited to the school board meeting.

We were recognized for our years of service... 91 years of combined service!

...and we were given a gift certificate to a very nice restaurant. I will miss the daily routine, but since I plan to sign up as a substitute teacher, I know I will be able to keep in touch with the students and staff for as long as I like. Will I sleep in? Probably not. I'm an early morning person, and I think I'll be much happier if I stick to my morning routine!

    1. I'm pretty sure I'll still get up early, but maybe not at 4:30 when Dave's alarm goes off!

  2. Firstly welcome to the world of retirement, you will be busier than you are now, will we be able to keep up with you on your posts.
I know you will be wondering how you found time to do all the things you do now but I can tell you now retirement means more time to do everything and you will be asked to do more because people will think you have nothing to do.
Another spinning wheel I am tatting one now and it's the slowest spinning wheel ever I made a mistake and had to chop but I am back on track, and still looks like I have a long way to go, perhaps because I never had time to do any over the weekend.
    Have a nice day.

  4. It took me years to get into the habit of being able to lie in a little bit longer each morning!!!! I blame books for that!!! Think of the perks - you can come to Palmetto now and we'll meet up again!!

  5. Great that all you retirees are being recognised. I'm sure retirement will bring some adjustments, but it sounds as though you have a whole lot of activities to look forward to.

    1. I work in a great school district! We're small and close-knit. I will miss working with everyone on a daily basis, but since I plan on subbing, I'll still be able to keep in touch.

    1. Maybe I can even make a trip to Tennessee instead of just driving through it on my way to Alabama!

  9. Congratulations, Diane. My BIL retired from teaching several years ago, yet he goes to school almost daily to help other teachers. If you get too busy you may want to go back to work so you can have a day off!

  10. Congratulations on your retirement. You are beating me out the door, but not by much. Mine is June 30th. Hopefully you will now be able to come out west for Shuttlebirds. We have a new venue and dates for next year which is the first full weekend of May.
