Road trip

Dave and I took a quick road trip to central Missouri, and while he drove I tatted!

I'm easily distracted by construction, vistas, and landmarks such as the St. Louis Arch. I must have taken a dozen pictures from my first sighting on the Illinois side of the Mississippi through the construction zone on the Missouri side. I actually visited the Arch with daughter Joanne's confirmation class. That has to be 20 years ago. We went to the top, something I don't care to do again. I'm not fond of heights, and it was a bit claustrophobic inside. Still, it is an impressive piece of architecture!

I managed to tat five Ice Drops during our trip, and I made many mistakes! I probably could have tatted three more Ice Drops if I hadn't spent so much time retro-tatting. One of these Ice Drops has a glaring error. Luckily, strategically placed ribbon camouflages the flaw!

  1. Isn't that what the ribbon is for - to hide the mistakes? I still haven't managed to make a single ice drop despite increasing the stitch count and lengthening the picots. I admire all the ones you have made.

    1. I think that's why I keep on making them! I just sent some down to Mom to share with her friends, and she said they loved them. Isn't that what creating is all about... sharing the love? :-)

    1. I'll have the see if I can find a movie about the building of the arch. I'm fascinated with the whole idea of building monuments.

  4. Thank you for sharing your pictures, I doubt if I will ever see it in person so it's nice when the American bloggers share pictures of the country.
    Beautiful ice drops

  5. Retro-tatting in the car - you have my greatest admiration! It's great to be able to see the sights AND have 5 ice drops at the end of the trip.
