Slow tatting

With two of my grandchildren here this week, I had very little time for tatting. I guess if I'm honest, I could have made time for tatting, but I chose to enjoy my time with the kids.

I did manage to slowly finish my metallic thread Ice Drop. The sparkle doesn't show much in this picture, but it really is bright in person!

  1. It looks lovely! - it would be good to fins a metallic thread that doesn't split into strands all the time.
Today the QLD Tatters had a class on your Ice Drops, as given by Judith Connors, and it was a lot of fun.

    1. This thread does unravel at the ends, but I didn't have any problems with the thread splitting while tatting. I'm glad you had fun with the Ice Drops!

  2. I'd have made the same choice! Spending time with kids is so fulfilling :)
Your Ice Drop looks lovely! :) I can't easily find the Rexana thread but DMC is available here. Have you already tried that one? I'd like to try and make some fun Christmas decorations, but I've never tried metallic threads. Is it really more difficult to use than cotton thread?

    1. I do have some DMC, which I plan on trying soon! I tat more slowly using the metallic thread. It's not as smooth as the cotton, so I find myself taking more breaks. I don't want to wear out my fingers!

    1. Me too! I think I will try blending it with the cotton thread for some variety.

  4. There's a time for all things... The metallic must be lovely in person. Combining it with cotton might make it easier to use while still retaining the sparkle?
