Been There, Done Tat ~ Part 1

Well, dear readers, another tatting event is in the books and it was fabulous! There is so much to tell, and I'm not sure I'll remember it all. My poor brain is on overload!

Let me start by saying that Lisa Adams of Tatting Corner did a fantastic job. When she first contacted me to ask if I'd be a teacher, I was very hesitant. I don't have a problem teaching, and I don't have any trouble getting up in front of a group of people to speak. I just wasn't sure I had anything to offer. My friend Denise and Lisa thought I did. It turned out that when Lisa put out a call for teachers, Denise suggested I teach an Ice Drop class. What an idea!

It's a bit difficult to put all of the memories of Tat Days in one post, so I'm not even going to try! There will be more than one post!

Thursday, I picked up my friend Denise and we headed off to Indiana. According to Google Maps, the trip was going to take 2 hours and 46 minutes. Boy, were they wrong! Because of construction and torrential rain, it took us over 4 hours. We arrived safely and in plenty of time, so that's what matters.

After checking into the motel, Denise and I headed over to Lisa's shop. We were greeted by the ladies who arrived before us, and it was like meeting long lost relatives. Lisa hosted a Tat 'n Chat from 5 - 9 p.m. I helped Lisa sell raffle tickets, hoping that helping her out would bring me some luck. She was raffling off two of Rita Richmond's tatting shuttles. There was no luck for me, but Denise did win a shuttle. I guess if I don't win, having my friend win is the next best thing!

As you can see from the picture, I did do a little shopping. A few of the items were gifts rather than purchases. Still, I came home with a pretty decent haul!

I haven't completely recovered from all of the excitement, so I took it kind of easy today.

It felt good to tat an Ice Drop today. I didn't tat one Thursday through Sunday. I was too busy teaching, learning, and having a wonderful time! Of course, I had to try out my newest shuttle.

Tatting Shuttle Addicts on Facebook is celebrating 5 years, and Rita Richmond designed shuttles for the occasion. Mine was here when I returned home on Sunday! I love both sides.

I needed to do something different today, so I opened up Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior and tatted Masquerade. I have an idea of something I'd like to do with this pattern. I'll let you know how it goes!

    1. Unfortunately, it did take just as long to get home. Traffic was heavy and there was an accident. I'm guessing many people were headed home after a vacation week. Still, we were safe and sound, and when you have a friend to talk to the time doesn't seem as long.

  2. Sounds wonderful! I don’t know how you doubted you had something to contribute after the huge success of ice drops. I’m glad you were persuaded to teach at Tat Days, good for you.

    1. Haha! I just figured that anyone who wanted to learn had already tried. I sometimes have to remind myself that what is clear to me may not be clear to others, and vice versa.

    1. Hmmm... I hadn't thought of a Masquerade Ice Drop. I was thinking more along the line of playing with colors. I'll have to think on that one!
