Capstar in Frappe

I had a little time to play this afternoon, so I tatted another Capstar Ice Drop. This one is in size 20 Liz Metallic Frappe. I made a slight change in this one by using only 5 picots instead of 7 on the outside rings. I think it looks fine, but I prefer the look of the 7 picots. You never know if you don't try!

  1. This is a pretty pattern, I like how the bottle cap ripples shine and sparkle through the rings at the beginning🌟🌞🌟

  2. Another Capstar ice drop made already! I do like the 7 picots also. (Saw your 'auto caption' reply!)

On another subject, I have been on a 'hunt' for the designer of the fabric with tatted images on it, and I've found her identity but haven't contacted the designer yet. I had written a comment to Cindy on her blog that I wished to find out the history of the fabric and ask the designer how she came up with the idea for that wonderful fabric - and if she is a tatter. I had also let Cindy know that a shop in Indiana still had some of the fabric and I bought 1/2 yard of each of the three colors, which I now have. I knew you had some of the fabric, but in my research today, I was surprised to see that you reviewed a 'fabric bundle' (from Riley Blake Designs) on an Etsy shop that included the 'tatted images' fabric! Have you seen the attractive 'Hearts' quilt by Riley Blake Designs that was made from that bundle? (It's a free pattern). Just wondering! The quilt doesn't seem to be mentioned on the Etsy shop site. If you're interested I can give you more info about the quilt.

    1. Yes, I have seen the quilt, and I think it's beautiful! I don't dare start another quilting project. I still have Alison's graduation quilt to finish, if I can find it... she graduated in 1994. I also have Andrea's quilt to finish. I think it's been eight years since I started that. I think I'm much better with small projects!

    2. I had a good chuckle over this! I started a lap quilt in 2005 for my SIL (and showed it to her occasionally, but didn't finish it until 2011. (She almost gave up on it, so she was quite amazed when I actually gave it to her!) However, you have finished a huge number of projects in so many different crafts - not to mention blogging almost daily - and now you're a tatting innovator and designer! It's quite a list! Most of us can't keep up with you! I'm basically in 'observation' mode, myself.

Glad you are aware of the Hearts quilt, which was put together by the Riley Blake group. According to her blog post in 2014, the fabric artist was amazed and delighted to see her line of fabric designs used in such a creative way, just before the fabric went on sale - although if it weren't for Cindy, I would never have known the tatted-image fabric existed - but is now in short supply! I think the designer would be pleased to see the bags Cindy has made, which then inspired Frivole to actually tat some of the motifs!
I like the idea (by a commenter on Cindy's blog) of making a vest with it.

    1. I agree! The bottle cap itself looked pretty bland before I added the sparkly thread!

  4. These are quite bad. I like bth theb5 and 7 picot versions, they look different enough to have their own appeal for me.
