Yes-U-Can Doily

Dear Tatting Friends,

This is my interpretation of the Yes-U-Can Doily. I'm not a pattern writer or designer, so please be patient with any mistakes you may find here. If you find anything that needs to be changed, please let me know so that I can fix the mistake.

Center ring and surrounding chain– 
1 ds, 5 picots separated by one ds (center picot slightly larger), 1 ds
Repeat 3x (4 groups)
Chain – 5 ds, 5 picots separated by 2 ds, 5ds, lock join to last picot of first group, lock join to first picot of next group. Repeat 3x.
Cut, tie, hide ends.

Round 2 –
*Ring: 2 ds, 3 picots separated by one ds, 2 ds, join to 1st picot on chain of previous round, 2 ds, 3 picots separated by one ds, 2 ds
Chain: 3 ds, picot (3x), 3 ds
Ring as before, join to center picot on chain of previous round.
Chain as before.
Ring as before, join to third picot on chain of previous round.
Chain as before.
Repeat from * 3x
Cut, tie, hide ends.
Round 3 – (use two shuttles)

**Inner ring: 3ds, picot, 3ds, join to chain on previous round, 3ds, picot, 3 ds, reverse work.
Chain: 5 ds, switch shuttles
Outer ring: 3ds, (picot, 2ds) 5x, picot, 3ds (total 6 picots), switch shuttles
Chain: 5 ds, reverse work
Repeat from ** around, joining inner rings at side picots and outer rings at first and last picots.
Note: At this point, the piece is very rippled. Explore changing stitch count.
Round 4 (flower motifs) - 

Ring: 2 ds, picot, ds, picot, 4 ds, picot, ds, picot, 4 ds, picot, ds, picot, 2 ds, reverse work
Chain: 3 ds, picot, 3 ds, picot, ds, picot, 3 ds, picot, 3 ds
Repeat 4 times, joining one section of chain to ring of previous round (join to 2 picots).
Cut, tie, and hide ends. 
Repeat flower motif all around. Skip 2 rings from previous round when joining next flower motif.
Final round - (use two shuttles)


Start with large ring between two flowers.
Large ring: 4 (join to second open picot on left flower) 3 (join to first open picot on left flower) 2 (join to first open picot on right flower) 3 (join to second open picot on right flower) 4. Reverse work
Chain: 6, switch shuttles
*
Ring: 5 - 5, reverse work
Chain: 2-1-1 join 1 join 1-1-1-2, lock join to picot on previous ring     2-1-1--1-1--1-1-2, lock join to base of ring, reverse work
Chain: 4 - 4, reverse work
Ring: 5, join to second picot, 5, reverse work
Chain: 2-1-1-2, reverse work
Ring: 5, join to third picot, 5, reverse work
Chain: 2-1-1-1-1-2, reverse work
Ring: 5, join to fifth picot, 5, reverse work
Chain: 2-1-1-2, reverse work
Ring: 5, join to sixth picot, 5, reverse work
Chain: 4 - 4, lock join to ring

Chain: 4, reverse work
Small ring: 4, join, 2, join, 4
Chain: 4, reverse work

Repeat from *
Chain 6 before and after large rings (between flowers)
Chain 4 before and after small rings (at top of flower)

  4. Hello I am working on your beautiful doily pattern. I am at the very beginning for the long chain should it be 5ds, 5p sep by 2ds, 5ds? It does not say the last 5ds but that's what it looks like in the pic.
