Change of plan

After making several more mistakes, I decided to abandon the simple ring and chain edging I had chosen. Sometimes I do better when I have to pay attention to a pattern, and I found that to be the case this time.

Last night, I thought about this vintage tatting magazine that has some fascinating patterns.

The Spool Cotton Co. published this magazine in 1944.

The pattern is #8902, and is meant to be an edging for a neckline. I've decided to use it for my hanky edging. I have to figure out my own corner, and while I have a set of rings and chains for now, I may decide to add something else to make the corners more interesting.

We'll see how long this idea lasts!

  1. That's a lovely pattern. I know what you mean, I tend to make more mistakes on an easy pattern than one that requires attention, sewing or tatting.

  2. That one is even better than the simpler one - it's one of my favorites!

  3. Oh, edging #8902, how do I love thee! Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? (Hee, hee, Sonnet 18 from Shakespeare) Thine elegance and beauty never fade...Diane, your tatting is magnificent!
