International Tatting Day

Yes, I've had my chocolate, and during SSR (Sustained Silent Reading) with the 2nd graders this morning, I read from Tatting Techniques by Elgiva Nicholls... I love this book! Tonight I'll try to tat a little.

As you can see, I'm still practicing with size 3 thread. The two little pieces are just doodles. The insertion piece is for my new spring purse, which I hope to make this weekend. I almost have enough tatted for what I need! I'll post a picture of the purse when it's finished.

I've gained a new appreciation for my Tatsy shuttle. I'm getting used to the size, and it sure makes it easier to finish a piece with larger thread. I don't think it will ever replace the smaller shuttles that I love, but it definitely has a place in my tatting ventures!

  2. Lookin' good Diane! The size of thread doesn't matter, as long as you are tatting. I know what you mean about the Tatsy shuttles. I have a couple I use when I am working with size 10 thread. Of course, it takes forever to fill such large shuttles. Keep up the good work.

  3. Such nice even stitches. I have a tatsy shuttle and I haven't used it. I only have it because when it comes to tatting stuff I'm a veritable certified hoarder. Thank you for visiting my blog today, Diane. Your comment was hilarious. So, tell me, ya got any camera tips and tricks to share?

  4. Your tatting is looking impeccable!
So glad to hear that your arm is feeling better.
I used to have a Tatsy but never used it much. I gave it to a friend who has large hands. Hmmm, I don't think she's been using it either...I'll have to nudge her to do some tatting!
