A gift from Alison
My oldest daughter Alison visited a friend in California last weekend. She knows that Dave and I love lighthouses, so she took this beautiful picture and sent it to me today. Now I have the urge to go visiting lighthouses again!
I'm not much of a photographer, so I think I'll stick to tatting. I love this little motif... another design from Tatting by Myra Piper! I'm still emptying shuttles of Lizbeth thread (#634 and #682), and I'm really glad I tatted this design in two colors. I wasn't impressed by the little black and white photo, but I think using two colors really shows off the design. This is motif No. 13.
That lighthouse photo is pretty.
ReplyDeleteLovely new motif, too! :)
You are so right! It is so much prettier in these colours! : )
ReplyDeleteIt is very pretty in those two colors. Contrasting colors really shows up the pattern. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty happy picture... and the motive is bright and nice as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous photo! It looks so sunny and warm there too, unlike central Oregon at the moment :) That's a sweet little motif!
ReplyDeleteNow tat's a useful motif to have. Love the colours.
ReplyDeleteThe Lizbeth thread has such pretty colors. These two look great together. The motif is sooo cute. I really have to get this book when I get some more of the Lizbeth thread.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of the Lighthouse. I can almost feel the breeze as the water splashes against the rocks.
A long time ago, Wally S. had a pattern for a Lighthouse on her website. I don't know if she still has it available. Did you see it before?
Have a great day!
I think using the 2 colors makes the design elements (and potential) stand out more. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteOne other thing, designs like this, with a center opening and yet still on the small side, work very nicely to cover small Christmas ornament balls. Add some beads for BLING!
ReplyDeleteWow-the picture looks like a postcard-what a lovely place!
ReplyDeleteI love the tatting too:)
Blessings,
Kim
Nice post, the two colours are very pretty.
