Tatting on the road

This was my take-along project for our trip to Minnesota this past weekend. I would have finished it yesterday, but I drove for a while on the way up and on the way back so that Dave could work on some things for work.

I can't remember what this color is, and I lost the tag a long time ago when I was making some bookmarks with it. It's from Sherry Pence aka LadyShuttleMaker. Every time I start tatting with this thread I think of my favorite cereal, Grape Nuts! The pattern? Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel Glass Mat, of course! I thought I was done with this pattern for a while, but Bonnie, Jeff, and Pamela all posted pictures, and I just had to make another! I was going to make it in Pamela's Blue Lagoon, but this thread was already on my yarn daisy, so I decided to use. I'm glad I did!

I thought for sure that Lily would love this one, because her favorite color is purple. She said that her mommy might like it. She wants one in rainbow colors with roses! Lesson learned... never ask a 4 year old what she wants unless you're prepared to follow through. I guess I have my work cut out for me!

Back to the list of chores...

  1. Whatever the thread is it seems to shimmer and I had to enlarge it to be sure there weren't beads there. You're slowly tempting me to make this little pattern!!!

  2. Like Jane, I thought there were beads at first, too! The thread does have a bit of a shimmer to it.

  4. Hi Diane, Lovely doily, the thread does have a shimmer to it. I just saw this doily on Joy's page. It must be a favorite of everyone's to do. Happy Tatting!

  5. You're right, Jane and TattingChic! It does look like it has beads. I'll have to ask Sherry how she did that!

Yes, Krystle. I do have it memorized, but when it's been more than a week since I've worked on it, I need to take a quick peek at the pattern to refresh my memory!

Carol, I took a look at Joy's page... I love that color! I may have to tat another!
