Calling all Mac users!

I love my Mac! What else can I say? I use PCs at school, so I'm very familiar with both operating systems. I just happen to prefer my Mac!

Anyway, a week or so ago my mom told me about a program she found called NoteBook. Have any of you Mac users tried it? You can try it for free for 30 days. Of course, I love free trials! I'm hooked! I've been organizing my crafts with tabs like Blogs, E-mail, Patterns, Projects, etc. That means I've spent very little time crafting, but I'm feeling so much more organized. I've even started a list of books I want to read! You can try the program out at http://www.circusponies.com/.

Another Apple note... daughter Alison has downloaded an app for her iPhone called BestCamera. Some day I hope to own an iPhone, but for now I'll just enjoy learning from Alison. The app allows you to use filters to change the look of your photos and then post them or e-mail them to friends. She took a very cool picture of the ceiling fan in her bedroom. I'm not much of a camera person, but some of the apps that are available make me want to delve even further into technology. If only I had more time to play!

As for tatting... I totally messed up my motif from the Japanese Book... on the last join of course. It's been after dark when I've had a chance to sit down and tat. I just can't seem to focus well enough at night to fix my mistakes, so later today I'll take time to try and undo that oopsie. It's such a pretty motif!

Inspired by Fox, I've gotten back into tatting my coaster motifs. The Japanese motif was an attempt to add variety to my coasters. I may still try to use the Japanese motif, but for now I'll focus on what I know works!

I finished my first striped sock, and have started the second. Again, I've finished a sock with a pencil point toe. Maybe the toe will change when the socks have been washed. I think I'll use a different pattern for the next pair of socks, though. This is the only sock pattern I've knit that gave me a pointed toe! The legs seem awfully skinny to me, but I'll reserve judgement until I've completed both socks and tried them on. I'm not trying the first sock on yet. I'm afraid I'll become discouraged and not finish the second one!

  1. Great blog entry, an interesting variety of topics.
I just bought a MacBook in July and am becoming acquainted with it; I have both Aperture and Adobe photo shop so can play with photos, and use the creative features. I haven't quite figured out how to take what I've done and upload it to blog sites.
I had PDF-Pick on my Windows program (my Dell laptop) and loved that for organizing, so will have to check out your find. Oh! Do not download the upgrade for the Smowleapord as they haven't worked out the 'bugs' in the program. I had to go in and remove it because it messed up my system.
I'm sure Apple will come up with a fix, but until then I can live without.
I think the Japanese motif for a coaster rocks! It is so pretty. Sometimes it's good to lay down one's work and go back later.
Thinking of you this Sat. morning. Bev

  2. Hi!
I also LOVE my Mac! I had not heard of Circus Ponies NoteBook before - just reading the information on the Apple website has sent my heart fluttering. It sounds COOL!

I read Ridgetatter's comment. Friends of mine new to Macs seem to have a hard time with file organization - they don't know where to find them. I tell them to remember Go Home (from the Finder toolbar). That is where Apple has already set up picture, document and movie folders for users. My picture folder is where I save my photographs instead of directly importing to iPhoto (I changed a preference in iPhoto so connecting my camera brings up Image Capture and allows me to choose which folder to download to) because I prefer Adobe. I save them as JPEGs in that folder and just direct blogger to them there.

I hope the untat goes well - it is a VERY pretty motif!

  3. Heh, after I noticed that also my guitar-teacher owns a Mac, it became sort of an inside joke between us.. he knows how much I wish to have my own some day, so he just keeps picking me about it - "Sooo, you have it already, tell me you have it?" :))

Anyway, I wanted to thank you for your comments, and also I have to say I´m a bit jealous (not only because of your Mac hehe) but despite of the fact that you´ve been so busy and still you´ve managed to do a lot - and you just keep going! Hugs :)

  4. The very word "Mac" causes spontaneous drooling - not a pretty sight! My second computer, after the Commodore - was the old classic Mackintosh Apple and I loved it. Then it became too costly to keep upgrading and I had to bite the bullet and my laptop, a Sony, is terrific, but once a Mac user...... Fox : ))

    P.S. Nice foot gear!

  5. Help! Diane, How do you keep the tatted motif from slipping around in the coaster? And - do you use the little round piece of cardboard in the package under the tatting or do you put the tatting on the spongey circle directly?

  6. I don't know anything about Mac's...BUT I DO know about tatting and knitting. Your picot's are beautiful, as well as your tatting.
I don't think your pointy toe will go away with a washing.....but you could unknit the toe and redo it to your liking. :)
    Thanks for visiting my blog!

  11. The fan picture is very intersting. I would like to try a Mac. Everyone seems to love them. Your tatting is so pretty. That motif on the left looks very intersting. Is it time for snowflakes yet?
