Back to basics... again!

For the last few weeks, I just haven't been able to follow a pattern. There's been a lot of start, stop, snip, rip, mumble, grumble... and very little completed tatting! So, I went back to basics... basics for me any way. There's something about Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel glass mat that just soothes my tatting soul. I think I might be ready to try reading a pattern again!

  2. You are lucky you have a soul-smoothing pattern! This would send me screaming into the night! I love the pattern, but always find it a bit trying to tat.

Your Glass mat spinning wheels are always so beautiful and I am glad they do the trick!

  3. You must hold the World Record on tatting this 'spinning wheel' mat! :)
I still haven't figured out when you have time to do so much tatting and other crafts!

I have yet to tat this pattern! You obviously find it 'soothing' and Fox finds it not so soothing! So I guess I'll have to see for myself how 'easy' it is! I remember it took me awhile just to find the pattern in the book, because it's not next to the photo, which conofused me!

I think it's a great way to see how the colors flow on the variegated threads, and you've provided us with a lot of examples!!!

  4. What a breath of fresh air! I'm so glad you shared this experience; because, it has happened to me more than once. It can be terribly frustrating. When I was working on all those little 'wheels' in the table runner (easy pattern) problems just kept happening throughout the years I spent…Sometimes, I'd just put it aside because it was a 'no go' session of tatting. But it was also a learning experience. I've taken out so many of those little wheels, it could have been ½- again as large!
Your work is so lovely…and you are such a talented lady…thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  5. Well, I suppose it's either Mary Konior or Prozac, and I think you made the right choice :-)

  7. The "basics" have never looked so lovely. Like you, I have spent a lot of time being frustrated by tatting. Sigh, it can be a cruel mistress! I am glad you have found your "Zen" piece. And, I am glad you shared it. Beautiful, and thank you.

  8. Grace, please excuse my manners. The thread arrived while I was away on vacation. I'm a new tatter although I've been collecting shuttles, pattern and thread for years. Unfortunately, I've just been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel so I'm unable to use it right now. Thanks so much for the thread, it's the first thing I'll tackle once I'm given the okay. Thanks again, Melodye
