Wave!

Here's my micro Wave! It's 3 1/2" long, not including the tassel. The thread is Sulky 30 wt. Blendables, color #4004. The pattern, by Sandy Scales, can be found in Tatted Bookmarks: Needle & Shuttle, edited by Barbara Foster at Handy Hands. The pattern was very easy to follow, but I had several false starts before being able to complete one. I wasn't following the directions very carefully, so I'd forget a chain or join a ring in the wrong place. Because the very fine thread is difficult for me to retro-tat, I cut off the offending pieces and started over again... four times! Now that I know what I'm doing, I'm sure I'll be able to tat this one again with ease.

  1. Mmmm, that thread looks like a summer dessert of some sort.

  3. Soo pretty! I love the colors and I love how dainty it is. I don't know if my eyes are good enough for me to ever tat anything that fine. I tried 40 thread and didn't do too well with it.

  5. Lovely!

But, what's with the small thread all of a sudden?

Of course, because you are using it a lot and I have not tatted with it for about a year, I am wondering and thinking, "Diane is tatting with #80, Diane is tatting with #80, Diane is tatting with #80 - a broken record.

So, like the patterns and books that I have to have because you are working with them, I fear I see a few weeks of tiny thread in my near future... grrrrr.

  6. I'm amazed at the lovely blend of colors here. I would never have guessed from the spool that it would turn out like this!

I'm guessing that this thread is equivalent to size 80? That's very brave of you to tat with it! Do they make it in a heavier thread? I have some variegated 'Signature' thread that is equivalent to about size 30, but seems to have limited colors. I guess I could check their web sites!

  7. Thank you for sharing this photo! The variegated thread used in the book is hard to see against the white background so I've come looking for better photos. This is a beautiful one!
