I LOVE plaid! I believe my first pair of glasses were plaid... it's hard to remember... I was 3 1/2 at the time. In high school, pastel plaid skirts were very popular, and although I never owned one, I thought they were beautiful! My senior year in high school, I made myself a plaid jumper to wear to church for Christmas Eve services... one of my mother's friends made the same jumper pattern out of the same fabric... Mom said it showed that we both had good taste! When I was in college, my mom made a long plaid skirt for me to wear to a Christmas party. When my first granddaughter was born, I made plaid receiving blankets for her. My favorite wool throw is plaid. Need I go on?
So, when I saw this plaid Christmas fabric, I thought it would be perfect for decoupaged shuttles. These were going to be Christmas presents, but I like them so much, I think I may keep them for myself... I know that's extremely selfish, but that's how I feel!
I chose to align the plaid differently on each side. I am so pleased with the way these turned out!
Now I think I can stop bidding on those plaid shuttles that I can't really afford! : )
very nice lookiing, what type of material is it?
ReplyDeleteHi Diane!
ReplyDeleteYour shuttles are GREAT! They will be perfect for when you cozy up underneath your plaid throw this winter to tat! Are they a homespun plaid?
:) Ann
Very nice! It's been all I could do to not go for one of your swaps but I'm swamped with other commitments so will wait for a future opportunity. At the rate you're going, you'll be a regular Van Gogh painter on shuttles!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS!!!!
ReplyDeletepretty! wowee...
ReplyDeleteI really like the way it looks where you cut it on the bias.
ReplyDeleteThey are really brilliant and what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed!
ReplyDeleteI love plaid too.. especially in Mc Phearson's clan plaid!
Keep Them!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful Diane!!

Bjs querida e amada amiga.

Ooo..very pretty! i also love plaid! I will have to try a shuttle with material I love the idea!!
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty!! The plaid reminds me of a jumper my daughter had when she was 6. She loved to wear that jumper. I think I'd have a hard time giving these beauties away too~
ReplyDeleteDiane - those are lovely shuttles. You are really enjoying yourself. Thank goodness the stash will not require a big space like quilting (which took over my craft room within months)
ReplyDeletePlaid perfection!
ReplyDeleteFox : )
Those turned out GREAT! I love the plaid on the bias on one side also. So now that you've tried all the different papers and fabric, which do you think works the best?
ReplyDeleteThese are really beautiful. It is good for you to treat yourself once in a while, so do not feel guilty about keeping these.
ReplyDeleteLovin the plaid...especially the ones done on the diagonal. You have really mastered the decorated shuttle. Happy tatting...
ReplyDeleteOh I like plaid too! I found a great cashmere shawl (on sale) that I use when traveling; so as not to get chilled (I don't like coats).
ReplyDeleteMy plaid skirt (50's) was a reversible Pendleton. My Mom loved things from the Pendleton mills and when she passed there was a very retro suit, almost like new, that fit my youngest; and, she loved it ~ course it was NOT plaid, Mom didn't like plaids much. I like the Davidson Plaid, Ancient. My DH sept.
The shuttles are great. The new Boyle's would be great to decoupage, too.
best wishes bj
Those are so pretty! I love the plaid and might just have to try something like that myself!
ReplyDeletetotally festive! Keep them, enjoy them ; )
ReplyDeleteThey look charming!!!
