I love this snowflake! It's Almas from Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff in size 40 Lizbeth, color #163.
Don't look too closely, please. There are three, yes I said three, places where I forgot to join to a picot! I went back and sewed the "mistakes" together... after all, that's how tatters used to join pieces... and I think I did a fairly good job. However, I don't think I'll give this snowflake to a tatter. I'll give it to someone who doesn't know what she's looking at! : )
Or you could just stitch it to fabric and no one would be any wiser! I find myself using that needle more and more lately!
ReplyDeletePretty thread and I see nothing wrong!
ReplyDeleteFox : )
I don't know what I'm looking at.
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty. I love the color!
ReplyDeleteAlmas is quite fetching, especially in such a crystalline color way as Blue Ice. But your stitches are what really bring out the best in it. Looks great to me!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous color!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. Even with non-tatters, I make sure it is so hidden that he/she won't notice it. We are the hardest person to please of our own craft, aren't we?
ReplyDeleteHAHA.... good idea, giving your tatting to someone who doesn't know what they're looking at
ReplyDeleteWhat if the person one day learns to tat? Then they will go back to your doily and say "hmmm... I see 3 un-joined picots that were sewn together."
LOL!@ Just kidding, Diane... I think it looks lovely and don't notice anything wrong with it.. I've had to sew my picots together before too...
I defy anyone to find the missed joins! It does give me a headache, though, to think about the 'days of old' when that's how they did them! What an amazing discovery for whoever did the first join using the shuttle! And too bad we don't know who that was!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing at the rather obvious 'hint' that your Mom wants the snowflake!
Hey, now, if you wouldn't have told us we would never know! It looks perfectly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat snowflake!!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect to me! I love the thread choice.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteA lovely snowflake! Hopefully next year I'll be tatting snowflakes too instead of crocheting them. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snowflake and beautiful book.
