Happy International Tatting Day!

Yes, I did get some tatting done today, quite a bit in fact. I only have ten pattern repeats left on the hanky edging... great progress for me!

My new Zoom Loom arrived today, and I really like it. Do you see the little notch at the bottom left? This may be the best part of the loom... no need for a starting knot! I misunderstood the description of the loom, and I thought there would be a slope on the outside. Not so! The slope is on the inside of the frame, and it does make it easier to manipulate the needle.

I'm using I Love This Cotton. If I stay inspired, there may be a baby throw made out of these little squares. Time will tell!

  1. I ALMOST ordered one. But, I remembered the one I cancelled - it was wood and a lot more expensive and I used iron will to step away... far away...

It would make a great baby blanket - a lot of little squares. Just as nice as crochet, and can be all cotton.

    Have fun with it!

I notice you are using larger post shuttles lately. I am wondering what Clover is up to. The little bright Clovers look as if they have been discontinued - not the pastels... I am watching.

  4. Congratulations on your newest little precious one. Your tatted edging looks lovely. Loom? Like when we were little girls making potholders? Hmmm...Creative Bliss

  5. Know you had a wonderful Easter with your family and that new grand baby. I figured you would use the loom to make something for the new little one. Please remember to show us what does comes off the loom. Just know it will be something very special.

  6. 1`213 kshereUA propos Fox's comment: just back from a trip up the mountain to Crochet Australia, where I bought a set of the pastel Clovers. Apparently the mould for these has somehow been destroyed, and they will no longer be making them - so stock up while you can.
But good news for me! - because next week the big Clovers will be in! - no postage problems, thank goodness.

  7. Hey, Maureen,
How on earth did you unearth that bit of info? I have been all over the net and I did not stumble onto that!

Fess up Sherlock? How do you know?!

  8. Straight from the Horse's mouth, Fox; Vicki at Crochet Australia told me about it this morning - she has only 3 sets left. They are the main importers for all our tatting and crochet things. She said she wished she could still get the sets of pastels because everyone loves them - but sadly this misadventure to the mould has finished that.
According to her, the bright colours remain unaffected.

Sorry, Diane, for hijacking your comments box!

  10. The edging is so pretty and you've made great progress. I foresee woven squares with tatted motifs added.

  11. Oooh, that's a lot of lovely edging! I like the thread you're using in the loom, and look forward to seeing the results!

  12. The variegated threads really appeal to me for these looms. Interesting color variations without having to think about it! I'm more and more tempted! You're also making great progress on your edging. But then again, you very much stay on task with all your projects and seem to have very few UFOs! I saw the crochet book at Joann's but couldn't find the purse pattern in my quick flip through. Will look again another time. You do such nice finishing on them and the beads look great, as does the special cord.

  13. Whew! Thanks Maureen and also DIane , the Enabler.

I just ordered a set of Clover Patels from Australia - the only place I could find them in stock. (without paying Handy Hands’s Highway Robbery mailing costs) I just had to have a set knowing they were not being produced anymore.
