The Online Tatting Class featured "Sonnenschein" from Happy Occhi by Petra Tornack-Zimmerman. This is a beautiful little pattern that I totally messed up!
First, I didn't follow the pattern. I looked at the diagram and thought... oh, I get this! When I was well into the design, I looked at the beginning of the pattern and saw that I was supposed to start with a chain. Oops! I started with a ring!
I'm not sure if that mistake led to the angular chains or not, but I know that I will re-tat this piece following the directions! I hope my second attempt looks more like Petra's sample!
The thread is size 20 Lizbeth, Pineapple Parfait #170.
Georgia posted that this book will be available in English. Frivole, did you see that it's a book of square motifs? Right up your alley!
I like that motif!! :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you just created your own. :)
It's a lovely book - when I bought my copy, the author gave a link to download the English instructions. I like your Pineapple Parfait! - I am going to tat the Honey Napkin in Honey Drizzle, I have the thread already. One day. When I have time.......
ReplyDeletenice. I saw it the other day when Georgia posted it. A perfect little tat in between larger works. I like that color.
ReplyDeleteI don't see why you can't start with a ring. Many motifs can be worked more than one way. Or maybe Georgia will reveal a secret reason why to start with a chain in class Monday :) I think the problem with the chains is just uneven tension.
ReplyDeleteLovely little motif, I must have a look in my book and try it,

A nice little motif, just the same! For some reason, I always mess up using only a diagram - I think I know what to do :/
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane - yes, squares, love them! I'll go check out the book!
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty good, I like it :-)
