Three of my third graders needed thread today, because they've been practicing their chains. I was so excited to have them wind more thread onto their floss bobbins! After they perfect their chains, we'll move on to rings.
They love their shuttles, and they love learning to tat! Today I gave the two third grade teachers shuttles and thread. Who knows? Maybe we'll have a local tatting chapter yet! ;-)

Yay! Congratulations to the teacher too!
ReplyDeleteOh I just know I could learn with you teaching me. Congratulations to the students! Blissful Tatting...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on how well they are learning, and to add a couple of teachers to the group, you are going to be kept busy with your group for a while.

Cool!! Sounds like fun!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm super impressed!
ReplyDeleteSo amazing! Rock on Tatters!
ReplyDeleteSo fabulous! What lucky students to have you for a teacher!
ReplyDeleteYea! How wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThat is SO awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat is great, I was wondering, and thought that was a wise decision to have them start with chains!
ReplyDeleteWooHoo! Keep on going!
ReplyDeleteI am so delighted to read this! I think their enthusiasm helps prove that teaching the chain first, and in two colors, where they master the knot before going on to rings, eliminates the frustration most of us felt when trying to do the knot years ago. (I didn't realize exactly what was really going on with the thread for awhile, even when I finally got the knot right!) And teachers want to learn, too! This is SO cool!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to both you and the students. You are doing wonderfully well.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, just popped over to say Hi! It's so good to see how well your students are doing!
ReplyDeleteHad a hard time commenting tonight. I got out of 'bloglovin' and was able to comment.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome!!! Wonderful to see the students [and teachers] take up tatting.
When mine were that age, I used to read to them & they would take cookie cutters and markers on large newsprint sheets to color. Or they would use coloring books.
had I known how to tat, I might have shown them! Middle son does knit. He learned from his High School French Teacher. He is pretty good at it!
Enjoy the day
