Costume day

Most of today was spent altering costumes. I would have been able to finish if I had purchased the correct ribbon for one of the dresses. I second guessed myself because of price, and I should have gone with my first choice. Since I didn't, I'll be heading back to Kankakee tomorrow to get what I need. The good news is, eight of the nine costumes are good to go!

Another mini-ball of leftover yarn found a new life today! I'm pretty sure this is wool sock yarn. Keeping my little pin looms close at hand is proving to be a good way to de-stash my mini-balls!

This is the beautiful jar Denise found at a garage sale. Yesterday it was filled with spools of sewing ahead. I should have taken a picture of it filled, but I forgot. Denise is the sock-knitting queen, and I think this beautiful jar would be a great place for her to store her mini-balls. Denise knits up her left-overs into hexipuffs. Wouldn't they look adorable in there?

I'm making progress with my newest Spinning Wheel. I do like this color, Ocean Teal Med.

    1. I know! It makes me wonder how I ever accomplished anything when I was working full time.

  2. Lovely colour. I'm intrigued by the net over the thread ball. Keeps it clean? Well done on those alterations. I'd much rather make something from scratch than make alterations, so I'm impressed!

    1. Hmmm... I wonder what happened to my reply? I'll try again!

The net over the thread ball is the same netting used for sergerI thread. I don't know if it keeps the thread cleaner, but it does keep it neater. My friend Denise started using the netting a year or so ago, because her thread kept getting tangled when she traveled. I purchased the netting online, and I've been cutting it in 4" lengths to keep my threads under control.

I'm totally with you. I'll sew from scratch any day. The only reason I'm doing alterations is to help my daughter. I HATE alterations!

  3. This loom, is it the ones we used long ago with the stretchy loops or is it different?
I love the color on the glass mat!

    1. No, this is not like the potholder looms. The spacing is different, and there is a specific pattern for warping before weaving. DewberryRidge on Etsy sells 2" and 4" looms as well as others. If you'd like to make your own, the book Pin Loom Weaving by Margaret Stump has instructions for building your own pin loom as well as 40 projects. The book can be found on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Pin-Loom-Weaving-Projects-Looms/dp/0811712486/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476961796&sr=8-1&keywords=pin+loom+weaving
