10 years!

That's right... 10 years ago today I started blogging! I think it's time to celebrate!

Leave a comment on this post, and I will use a random number generator to choose a winner for some tatting goodies.

Do you blog? How long have you been blogging? Do you have a favorite designer? Mine's Mary Konior. Do you have a favorite pattern? Mine's Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel glass mat from Tatting with Visual Patterns (my favorite book). Do you have a favorite tatting book? What's your favorite color?

I haven't done this in a long time, so I think it will be extra fun!

Today is my last full day of visiting with family. Joanne and the kids are heading home tomorrow, as are Eva and Aidan. I won't be lonely, though. Tollway Tatters will be meeting! Are you in the Chicago area this weekend? We meet at 10 a.m. at the Hinsdale Oasis on 294. We try to sit near Starbucks. We're easily identifiable. Just look for mounds of tatting supplies and tie-dyed t-shirts. We usually stay until 2 or 3 p.m., and we would love to have you join us!

It's hard to believe that Eva and Aidan are both teenagers now. Aidan turned 13 last Saturday, and Eva turned 15 on Tuesday. The have been a great help with the little ones. Yesterday they even watched Dora the Explorer with Sophia!

I made a big mistake yesterday. I finished an Ice Drop while Sophia was sleeping. She did not approve the glass gem or the ribbon, and she let me know that she did not really like this one. Kids can be so funny! I will try to do better today! 😇

I had a lovely birthday surprise in the mail yesterday. I had ordered one of Rita Richmond's red paisley shuttles. Red is my mom's favorite color and I adore paisley designs, so ordering this one was a no brainer! I was thrilled to see this beautiful card from Rita. Does she know that Mom loves cardinals? The best part was that Rita sent me a birthday present...

I love blue. I love peacocks. I love Rita's wooden shuttles... now I have everything I love in one beautiful piece of artwork!

It even has my name and the date on the back! Thank you for the wonderful birthday surprise, Rita! You've helped make my 65th birthday extra special!

  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!!!

The shuttles are gorgeous, especially the peacock one.

I've neglected my blog very sadly - hard to find much tatting time these days. But I love Mary Konior's Tatting With Visual Patterns - my go to pattern is her Large Cross.

  7. June is full of birthdays in the family! Happy Birthday to you! :) And happy blog-versary too:)
I don't blog myself, I'm far from tatting enough for that and I use Ravelry for my other crafts.
There are several designers I admire, it's hard to select just one, so I'll go with the one whose work is most present in my patern library. That's Marilee Rockley. My favourite pattern is her Lace Celtic knotwork pendant triangle. I don't have a favourite book... again, too many. As for my favourite colour: sometimes I answer green and purple, and the rest of the time it's purple and green.
Am I at risk to appear as an undecisive person? :)

  11. Congratulations on 10 years blogging and happy birthday!! I blog. My favourite tatting book is Tatting by Julia Sanders, my favourite modern designer Jane Eborall, and her very small butterfly is my favourite pattern. Colour? Mmm, not sure, something bright! Enjoy your Tollway tatters meet.

  12. Well done on the ten years. My blog has kept me motivated for 11 years!!! My favourite designer at the moment is Dora Young but I bought Mary Konior's books as they were published 'way back then'. As for a favourite pattern - that changes each time I start a new one!!! I enjoy large projects and small ones but mainly those which make BC3 work hard to understand them!!!! I don't like easy patterns!!!

  13. Happy Birthday and Congratulations on 10 years of Blogging. I love reading your posts and that your favorite color is blue (it's my sisters fav). I like orange, pink, and purple. I don't have a favorite designer yet but I do adore all your spinning wheels. I envy you for being able to meet up with other tatters. Happy tatting!

  15. You started tatting on your birthday? How wonderful! Happy (belated) birthday! I think my favorite designer is Frivole, everything she does is so even and perfect and precise. And Renulek, wow, so prolific and her work is so gorgeous and Victats who designed my go-to and, and, and...Maybe I just like anyone who's willing to design so I don't have to? And there's this lady who started the Ice Drop problem I have...

  16. Congratulations on 10 years of blogging and happy birthday! I don't blog, favorite color is red, usually my favorite pattern is the one I'm working on at the moment, and my favorite designer is usually the one whose pattern I'm tatting at the moment. I like 'em all!

  17. Wow! Congratulations on 10 years of blogging - you are so good at it! I've been blogging for about 8 years, but not as regularly as I'd like to. I think my favorite designer is Jon Yusoff - her patterns are so wonderfully easy to read. I really like the book New Tatting by Tomoko Morimoto, but I hate to claim a favorite because there are so many! I don't have a favorite pattern, really, but I love making the basic ice drops you've gotten many hooked on (including me!) I'm with you for BLUE as my favorite color - almost any shade! Happy Birthday! 🎈

  18. Happy Birthday and congratulations on 10 years of blogging! I do have a blog, but have seriously neglected it. There are too many wonderful designers for me to choose a favorite. I have favorite patterns for each one. However, my go to pattern is Mary Konior's Large Cross. Her VISUAL PATTERNS book is my favorite.

  19. Happy birthday! Congratulations on 10 years blogging! Sadly, my blog is lucky to get updated once a month. It's not that I'm not tatting as much as the UFO's keep accumulating..lol
