Reunited

Daughter Joanne and the kiddos came back from their visit to Auntie Carol's yesterday morning. As expected, Sophia spied the new set of Ice Drops as soon as she walked into the living room!

The surprise was, she allowed the babies to help her decorate the tree!

While they were napping, I finished weaving my red and white Baltic band from The Weaver's Inkle Pattern Directory by Anne Dixon. I already have a pattern and colors in mind for my next band. I just need to find time to warp my loom!

I also managed to finish another Ice Drop. Sophia said, "Grandma you forgot to let me choose the ribbon, but it's okay because it's blue." I will definitely wait for her to choose the ribbon for the next Ice Drop!

After bath time, Sophia informed me that she is now big enough to learn tatting. She is four, after all! She chose a blue shuttle and turquoise thread and started winding her shuttle. After about 12" were wound, she asked if she was done. Hahaha! She filled the shuttle about halfway and told me she would tat some more tomorrow. She went to bed a very happy little girl!

  5. Your 'family' posts are so heartwarming. I can't believe how big the twins are now, and Sophia is too cute for words! She seems older than 4! It will be interesting to follow this saga! Those bands are really pretty. I wouldn't have the patience to warp a loom!

I wonder if you've seen this site?

Not much information there, but I'm curious who tatted the blue ice drop with the beads in the chains.

    1. Yes, I have seen those before. I can't remember who tatted them, but I did almost succumb and purchase Swarovski crystals so that I could imitate her work!

  7. Grand children are a blessing, how lovely she wants to learn, she's starting young , it's brilliant that she wants to learn, I remember I used to watch an old aunt who used to visit and she said she would teach me when I was a bit older but of course she died before she did, Grab her and let her play with the shuttle, you never know she might pick it up and be a wonder tatter,

  8. The lady who taught me to tat was 5 when she learned. I figured if a 5-year-old could learn, SURELY a 32-year-old should be able to learn, too. Teach her in small 'doses' whenever she wants to work on 'tatting' and see where she goes with it. I'm already excited - another tatter growing up into tatting. :)
