Why, yes... yes I did buy a few books... actually several, which is technically more than a few. Oh, you want to see what I bought? Alrighty then...
Although this isn't a tatting book, it is a lovely calendar by Sandra Eichelberger. The photographs are gorgeous, and I know I will think of my crazy tatting friend every time I look at it!
I'm sure I purchased Jennifer Williams' Tatted Snowflakes, but I don't know where it is. Now I have a backup copy!
Oh, how I wish I could read Japanese! This lovely little book is filled with step-by-step pictures of beautiful beading techniques. I'm pretty sure I can figure the patterns out from the diagrams and pictures. I love the flowers on the front!
Ben Fikkert's A Tatting Adventure is another book I'm sure I have somewhere. I had to make sure, though. Tim had thought of a costume for the banquet... carrying a shuttle and going as Ben Fikkert! That one made me laugh! There's a picture of Ben Fikkert in the front of the book. I don't think he and Tim look much alike!
It won't be long before I'm in the mood to tat snowflakes, so I felt the need to buy Karen Bovard's newest book, even though I am a split ring novice. I'm still trying, Jane!
I have several of Georgia Seitz's books, but I didn't have this one. I'd like to set a goal of tatting every snowflake pattern I own, but I'm afraid I'll stress myself out trying!
I love Christel Weidmann's books! I've read comments by tatters who feel her designs are too simple, but sometimes simple is what I need!
I'm guessing this book was available last year, but I didn't see it until this weekend. Who can't use more butterfly patterns?
Riet brought along extra copies of Ineke Kuiperij's books. There were three the intrigued me, but I chose to buy only one this year. Maybe I'll have the chance to go back to Palmetto Tat Days. If I'm lucky, Riet will be there with more books. I suppose I should have purchased all three, but I was trying to be good!
This was the most expensive book I bought. I couldn't help myself! I think I'd better justify my purchase and work on some of the patterns in here. I figure that every pattern I tat reduces the purchase price of the book. Isn't that what they mean by diminishing returns? ;-)

:-))) Great addition to your book collection ! Hoping to see those diminishing returns in thread ;-P
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I'll have to work on that... believe it or not, I purchased thread as well!
DeleteWell done! - especially with the Treasure Tatting book, it's wonderful to look through. I am waiting patiently for the Split Rings Snowflake book.I believe the Japanese book with the lavender bunch on the front is now out of print, so that was a good buy too. The two youngest members of our tatting group were hunting for that one and I was able to find an elusive copy for them. Their tatting is exquisite.
ReplyDeleteI almost didn't buy Treasure Tatting because of the price. The Carousel and Peacock doily were what drew me to it, even though the patterns aren't included. Sometimes I just need beautiful books for inspiration!
DeleteI didn't realize the Japanese book with the lavender bunch is out of print. I sure am glad I didn't hesitate on that one!
A wonderful addition to your collection, indeed! And yes, I believe you're right about the meaning of "diminishing returns"!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we think alike, Cindy!
DeleteSo many wonderful books. Some day I'd like to see your tatting Library.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I get my sewing room reorganized, I'll post some pictures, Bernice. Of course, I've been saying that for a couple of years!
DeleteWow, those should keep you busy for several lifetimes. Wonderful! So much work and creativity represented there, I'm not surprised you couldn't resist.
ReplyDeleteI was a good girl this year. I did not charge anything. Instead, I saved up and only bought with cash. I think I did quite well!
DeleteI look forward to the day when you say you LOVE split rings, Diane! That's a lot of books you bought!
ReplyDeleteI hope to get there, Jane! I think of you every time I see a split ring!
DeleteAnd I made you do a bunch of them!
DeleteWow! Looks like a great tatting library came home with you!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSuggestion, try tatting just one snowflake from each book and that is a good attainable goal. ;)
Great idea, Sue!
DeleteI love to read about things as much as doing them.
ReplyDeleteThat's where I get it from!
DeleteI almost bought Treasure Tatting. I was trying to justify almost $50 for it. I should have gotten it. Let us know how you like it. Show us anything you tat from it.
ReplyDeleteWill do, Tim! I really need to find out about the Peacock doily!
DeleteWow that's a lot of books, good job you were not flying excess luggage. I look forward to seeing lots of new tatting.
ReplyDeleteI have Bens book and I hope to do the leaf doily in the front one day.
The answer to your question yes if you send it I will finish it, but I doubt it will fit her, might do for her own child when she has one.
Lotsa books! Good for you it's one of the fun parts of these conferences. So glad you like my calendar!
ReplyDeleteI'm super jealous of your book haul! I have a couple, and haven't heard of a few too. I really want a few of Ineke Kuiperij's books, but I can't seem to get a hold of Riet. Can't wait to see what you tat from them.
ReplyDeleteDiane Dear you have the most amazing collection of Tatting Shuttles, Books and Threads. I believe you are a Tatting Museum of Smithsonian quality and respect. Fabulous acquisitions...<3
ReplyDeleteBooks, books and more books! You have many lovely tomes to inspire you this fall and winter. Please fill us in more about the lovely projects you tat from these treasures, especially the Treasure Tatting one, which I had not seen.
ReplyDeleteStill tired from Tat Days! Each year it seems to take a bit longer to recover, but I am NOT COMPLAINING. Isn't that how we know we had a good time?
Nothing wrong with books, is there, Diane? ;-)
ReplyDeleteMy suitcase weighed so much already that I didn't even look at books. Now I'm sorry, seeing all your treasures!
