Stubborn

I could have accomplished so much today, but because I'm being stubborn, I only managed to tat one Ice Drop.

I really like the way this one turned out!

The stubborn part? I'm working on a pattern with beads, and I closed a ring too soon. I've opened beaded rings many times, but this one is causing me fits! I'm guessing I've spent about four hours trying to get this ring open. I could have easily snipped it off and re-tatted it. In fact, I probably could have tatted three or four of the motifs in the time I've spent trying to fix my mistake, but I'm stubborn!

  1. I feel your pain! Usually after I get it open and fix, I break the thread shortly thereafter.

    1. I hope that doesn't happen. I've spent way too much time on this ring!

  2. I love the purple Ice Drop, what a pretty colour!
I still have to manage to open any sort of ring, so I'm not going to criticize!!!! Stubborn is good. Maybe I should be more stubborn, I'd waste much less thread :/

    1. There's a part of me that just wants to snip the thread off and start over. I have more thread than I can use in my lifetime, so why am I being so frugal?

  3. Funny, Jack was asking me yesterday about undoing tatting. I told him that it's laborious and whether you do it or resort to cutting depends more on personality than anything else. 10/10 for persistence. Love the purple one!

    1. Most days I just snip and start over. I'm not sure why persistence is winning out this time.

  4. This is a beauty and the color too!💜 you know I have Gorton goid at undoing but every so often it dosent work. And then you don't realized how long you been taking, and then the sun goes down😏

  5. I have also spent time undoing rings and of get into kind of a trance, even though a voice is telling me to just cut and run.

Question: Do you have two lighthouse shuttles - one with a hook and one without?

  6. Ah yes, sometimes we're in just that kind of mulish mood - something like penny wise pound foolish applied to time here.
My experience has taught me to not bother much with untatting size 40 thread (unless the ring has a picot) - cut and carry on. With size 20, I am often a bit more 'lenient' ;-P
