You guessed it... I played with another metallic thread today!
I think this thread is really pretty, but I found it a little more difficult to work with than the other Liz Metallics. It seemed bumpier to me. Maybe my fingers are just sore from working with metallics. I do like the look, and I think it makes a great Ice Drop. As you can see, I used another beautiful shuttle from LaCossette.
While bobbin shuttles are not my go-to shuttles, I do enjoy using them with the metallic threads. My main reason for not using bobbin shuttles is that I feel I can wind so much more thread on a post shuttle. However, since Ice Drops take from 3 - 5 yards of thread on the shuttle, I find the bobbin shuttles to be very convenient!
I finally finished round 8 of Renulek's Wiosna 2018! It did cup a little, but a quick shot of steam from the iron set everything right. On to round 9!
Great Ice Drop! And your doily is outstanding!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sue! I'm having great fun with the doily!
DeleteCan't wait to see what color on doily your going to do next also sometimes the regular thread of lizbeth seem smother than others I often wonder if it is the die color that makes some ruffer🤔
ReplyDeleteI do think the dye makes a difference. Even with the regular Lizbeth and many yarns, the color can change the feel of the fiber. It is fun to experiment!
DeleteThanks for taking the time to showcase the metallic threads. I was thinking of buying some but I’m still not sure. The iridescent color would be my choice for snowflakes, though it doesn’t look as sparkly as the other colors you’ve used. Does it look much different from plain white thread in person?
ReplyDeleteIt does have more of a shimmer than the plain threads. I like the stiffness for snowflakes, but please keep in mind that I am not a big fan of metallic threads to begin with. I like the look, but not the feel of the thread when I'm tatting. I have noticed that I'm getting little cuts on my fingers, something that doesn't happen with the regular threads.
DeleteYour round 9 looks excellent now. Lovely Spring colour! The metallic threads must make lovely sparkly ice drops, though that's not so easy to see on the screen.
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew how to make the sparkle show up on the screen! The threads are much prettier in person!
DeleteLoving the new threads and the ice drops look beautiful with it.
ReplyDeleteDoes not seem to have arrived in the UK yet,
Your spring doily looks beautiful full of Spring colours
Thank you, Margaret! I'm really enjoying this doily.
