Ice Drop tutorial

Not traditional!

It's been very hot and humid here the past few days, and I don't deal well with heat and humidity. Add Dave's vacation time to that, and I'm left with not much time or energy for tatting. However, the yard is looking beautiful! No, I don't do much in the yard. I usually sit on the front porch and comment on what a wonderful job Dave is doing.

The only tatting I've accomplished since my last post is this adorable Peacock Ice Drop from Wally Sosa's upcoming book, Itty Bitt Zoo. Sophia chose the colors before heading home to Minnesota, so this little peacock is far from traditional! Still, I think it's cute.

Wally's pattern calls for beading, and my next attempt will have beads. However, I still haven't mastered the Beaded Twist & Fold Picot, and I still have a very tentative relationship with split rings! I decided that I would forego beads for my test tat. I would have been fine with the beads, and they do make the peacock look spectacular!

Denise and I will be headed to Tatting Corner's Tat Days later this morning! There's plenty of food in the house for Dave, and his personal to-do list is quite long, so I'm pretty sure he'll be okay. I will be teaching two basic Ice Drop classes and three Tat Days Ice Drop classes. Yes, I designed an Ice Drop just for Tat Days way back in December. I will be sure to share it sometime next week!

  6. If you omitted the joins at the very bottom and did a little rearranging, you'd have a nice chatelaine :D
