Concentration

I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted, but I've been concentrating on a couple of projects and I've been at school quite a bit this week.

My concentration paid off! I finished this scarf this evening. I'd piddled around with it, because I knew it wasn't going to be as long as I'd hoped. It will be nice for tucking in to the neckline of a coat, but it won't wrap around and around the way I like. I do like the colors, so I know I will use it.

I also made good progress on my granddaughter's afghan. I finished the second ball and started the third. I don't think there's any way I'll finish this by the end of September, but I'll try!

My craft supplies are taking over the house. I'm going to have to tame them soon. Luckily, Dave's projects are spread all over the outside, so he doesn't say much about my stuff taking over the inside of the house!

I've also been busy flattening bottle caps. A Facebook friend sent me a link to a video of a woman flattening bottle caps with a tortilla press. It works like a charm! I wouldn't recommend using your tortilla press for bottle caps if you like to make tortillas. They do mark up the press. Since I don't make tortillas, I'm happy to use my press strictly for bottle caps!

On the chicken front, one of the hens has decided that she likes to lay her eggs on the work table Dave has set up on the porch. Now that's what I call service!

    1. Aren't the colors pretty? I wish I had used a different pattern. The pattern I used is lost in the variations in the yarn. A simple stockinette stitch would have been just as pretty.

  2. You’ve been busy! There is a place for pretty, short scarves.

  3. Wow!!! You have been busy!!!
Great scarf, love the colors in the afghan!!
My tatting had almost taken over the livingroom, but it is getting under control since I am nearing the craft show.
Don't you have enough flattened bottle caps from your purchases?? ;)
Oh my, look what Dave started. ;)

    1. It has been a busy week! Oh, I have way too many bottle caps, but you already knew that! ;-)

Dave and his chickens... what can I say? :-)

  4. Pretty things, but the chicken really brought out a grin ;-D
Your 'concentration' camp (couldn't resist ;-P), is my 'sabbatical' - I often need to take those when working on tuts /articles, to maintain focus and let the info marinate in my head ;-P

    1. The chickens have been a source of wonderful entertainment this summer! I'm still not interested in to much interaction with them, though.

Time just gets away from me sometimes. If I don't blog, I'm afraid I'll lose my tempo and disappear from the Internet altogether!

  5. I think I'm in a time warp! You're 'back to school' and still working diligently on various crafts, and making good progress. Your scarf will still come in handy and the afghan is moving right along.

I love knowing your stuff is taking over the house - I can relate so well to that! And funny that Dave can't complain!

But I really chuckled over the hen story! You could write a book about your adventures with those amusing chickens!

I 'knew' you were going to start flattening your own bottlecaps (LOL)- but it's a unique way to do it! I've never actually seen a 'tortilla press' until now! Better find some empty drawers for the avalanche of caps! This brings back memories of my youth when I saved bottle caps - but don't remember what I did with them!

I look back on my delightfully pleasant childhood with awe and wonder. Lazy summer days goofing around with friends, playing Jacks, jumping rope, riding bikes, roller skating on slip-on skates, card games, learning crafts, waiting for ice cream truck, eating popsicles, and even watching old movies on TV (plus Capt Video). Sometimes I think I dreamed it all!

    1. Ha ha! I sometimes feel like I'm in a time warp! If only I were as dedicated to writing as I am to all my craft work, I bet I could write a fun book!

Flattening bottle caps only came about because once I tried the flattened bottle caps, nothing else would do. Pretty soon I'll have them all flattened, and then I'll have no more need for a tortilla press. We were helping daughter Alison move in to her new home today. While unpacking boxes, I saw that she had a tortilla press! I had no idea she used to make her own tortillas.

We did grow up in a wonderful time! I remember when all the moms in our neighborhood combined their S&H green stamp books so that all of the kids could go to the S&H store to "buy" roller skates... one of my favorite memories!

  6. I don't think you sleep as you are always producing so many pretty and useful items, unless perhaps you cat-nap when nobody is looking. What an attractive hen you have, hope her eggs are very tasteful!

    1. Oh, yes... I do sleep! Early to bed, early to rise... it's amazing how much I can accomplish between the time Dave leaves for work at 5:30 and 7 when my daughters start calling! Every egg we've had has been absolutely delicious!

Just like you, I love getting feedback!
