Tollway Tatters having fun!

We had a nice sized group today!

Kathy, Carol, and Chris

Cathy worked on her cross stitch.

Carol always has the coolest things to show us. I just love her case for her travel tatting!

Chris was working on this beautiful piece.

Nancy

I forgot to ask Nancy what color thread she was using. Isn't it pretty?

Marlene

Marlene had a variety of projects to show us.

She spent time working on Mary Konior's Spinning Wheel glass mat, my all-time-favorite pattern! The green doily is one she started in perle cotton years ago. She came across it and decided to finish it. Her tatting is perfection!

Chris and Carol have their back to the camera. Thea and Marlene had a great time tatting and chatting!

I forgot to ask Thea about her book. There are so many conversations going on at our meetings, I forget my questions until I get home!

Thea finished her first Ice Drop today! I love blue and white, so I quickly snapped a picture.

Sue Anna

Sue Anna is one of Marilee's biggest fans. She's tatted more of Marilee's patterns than anyone I know.

 Marilee and Barbara

Marilee was resting when I took this photo. I forgot to ask what she was working on today. Barbara recently had surgery on her hand, so she just enjoyed her time with us.

I managed to finish an Ice Drop in upholstery thread that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I just wanted to see how it would work. I think the color is kind of dull in person. It shows up better in the picture. The thread is pretty smooth. I just had to watch for it fuzzing out when I went to pick out mistakes, which happened often! One thing I like about it is that when it did fuzz out, it went back to its shape once the thread was out of the stitch. It didn't get all kinky like cotton thread does.

We've set our next date for Saturday, July 20. I'm already looking forward to our next meeting!

  2. So good to see each other’s work as well as enjoying each other’s company and conversation. How thick is the upholstery thread? The ice drop looks pretty as a picture!

    1. Sue Anna said she thinks it's comparable to size 50. It's thicker than Sulky 12 wt, which I really like.

    1. Haha! It would have to be at my house and low key... bring your own camper/tent!

  4. Darn it, Diane. I don’t ‘do’ camping!! Nice idea, though to have a Tat Days at your house!

    1. I don't do camping either! Give me a nice bed and air conditioning and I will be happy. If you ever do make it out my way, I have two spare bedrooms!

  6. I think I recognize the thread color: Mountain Breeze. I had a request for something tatted with it many years ago. I added some really dark green beads thinking of trees and leaves. Didn't really grab me. I like the motif you pictured!
