Starting the day with tatting always seems to set things right! This ball of size 40 Lizbeth #147 Red Burst seems to go on forever! I may not achieve my goal of finishing up the ball this weekend.
We all headed over to daughter Carol's house for a delicious lunch of macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, and salad. Joanne and the kids spent the afternoon with Carol, and Mom and I headed home after lunch.
While Mom was napping, I made another Dorset button. This time I used size 10 Lizbeth and it went much faster. I think the stitches look more even, but I need to work on keeping my center in the center!
After dinner, I decided to try 12 wt Sulky Blendables with a smaller 1/2" ring. I love the sheen of the Sulky thread, and I think I did a much better job with the center this time.
Special buttons call for special storage, and I just happened to have this cute little button tin on hand!
Another great donut ornament!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your Dorset buttons!!! :)
Thanks, Sue! I can see them as part of one of your sun catchers!
DeleteNeat idea! Maybe someday, but I have enough to play with for now. ;)
DeleteI just ordered 6 bags of rings. As always, spinning wheel mat, tatting bags, ice drops you certainly inspire! Hope I can make those Dorset buttons. They’re so cute and never heard of them till now.
ReplyDeleteThe Dorset buttons are really very easy. I can't believe I waited so long to try making one. Have fun!
DeleteI think your buttons are amazingly smooth, I see how your centre is better situated on the third one. I’ll put a photo of the paperweight on my blog, just as soon as the light improves.
ReplyDeleteLike anything else, I guess it takes practice!
DeleteAwesome buttons
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol! I find making them to be very relaxing!
DeleteLove your Dorset buttons. DBs are a favourite of mine: I have one attached to my scissors.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Judith! I'm having great fun with them. I wish I'd given them a try years ago when I first became interested!
