Daughter Joanne called...

...to let me know I hadn't posted since Tuesday. I told her it was because I didn't have anything to blog about!

I get bored posting about little bits of progress, but tonight I reached the halfway point of round 15 and that's something to blog about!

Now for the big decision... do I spend time this weekend on some much needed housework, or do I tat? Stay tuned!

  1. Soooo beautiful! I've got the pattern and have selected thread but have no idea when I'll get started. Hmmm, with the holidays coming it may not be until after the first of the year but I'm so looking forward to it.

    1. Thank you, Sandy! I would definitely wait until after the holidays. I know there are faster tatters out there, but I have been working on this since December 29. If I had started before the holidays, I don't think I'd have kept my slow and steady pace.

  2. Every time I see this I get goosebumps! I really can't imagine my tatting it, so I'm enjoying following your progress. It's so wonderful and amazing to see it evolve, although I really don't think I'd have the patience!

I do have a question about the Piland scarf! I was knitting a swatch, and I'm not coming up with that fantastic 'honeycomb' effect that I see in your photo. I was wondering if you remember how many stitches you cast on, as that possibly makes a difference. I love the look of the stitches in your scarf! It almost seems as if you've come up with something new!

Hmmm. Housework v. tatting. I know which one I'd choose, although when we had company this week, I realized it would be so much better if I did more housework and less surfing on the net!

    1. This doily definitely takes patience! I manage to keep going by setting small goals, and even with that you know I've made several big mistakes!

As for the Piland scarf... I cast on 37 sts (multiple of 4 plus 1). Yes, stitch count does matter with these patterns! The other key is to use the serpentine method, continuing the stitch sequence on the next row rather than starting the pattern repeat from the beginning.

I did manage to get two hours worth of housework done yesterday with the help of one of the middle school boys who wanted to earn a little cash... one hour for him, one hour for me. It's amazing how much we accomplished!

    2. Thanks for the reply! Glad you got help with the housework! I'll do another swatch, although I cast on 17 and did the serpentine. It may be that the pattern is more noticeable on a wider swatch. I'm still working on the Lyden vest, which is working out well so far! I'm also working on some baby booties for a new great-nephew arriving soon. No twins, however! Can't imagine that!

  4. Looking beautiful, well I think just do the important bits of housework, and then spend the rest of the time tatting

  5. It's beautiful! Tat sitting in a chair that faces a window to the outdoors, then you won't see the work that needs to be done in the house. :-)

  6. Of course you tat! (I am knitting instead of doing laundry.)

That is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I could tat half as well as you!
