Sidetracked

It's all Fox's fault, of course...

Last Thursday Fox asked for help with this motif... at least I thought it was a motif... but, no. It's actually the center of a doily from Land of Laces!

Right now it reminds me of a Tudor rose. I'm determined to keep going on my Jan Stawasz Masterpiece, but now I have printed out all the directions for the Land of Laces doily. I guess I'm destined to work on doilies for a while!

Thanks, Fox!

  1. Oooh! I'm so envious! I haven't started mine as I want to finish the coffee mat! Yours is so pretty and you tatted it so fast.

I hope it will not be so difficult for me when I finally get to it.

    1. I made many mistakes because I lost my place in the pattern. Luckily, round 2 is super simple!

  2. NOW you've done it! So far I had been resisting this doily. It's beautiful, yes, but I was stubbornly resisting. You've "made" me bookmark all the rows, with the intent to print and tat it as soon as I finish the big one I'm currently working on. Yours looks nice. :-)

    1. I knew that if I bookmarked I would forget about it. So, all the pages are printed and I'm ready for tatting!

    1. It is fun, but it makes it difficult to finish the larger pieces!

  7. I haven't printed it yet but I might. After Fox shared it, I was interested too. I'm not going to start it though. I'll try it if I need a break from the Masterpiece Doily.

  9. A lovely detour. It could stand alone as a motif.

  10. Having a little detour means you come back refreshed to the big doily.
I agree it does look like a Tudor rose.

  11. I was also tempted to find the pattern for this doily but I resisted! I have quite a few projects in line that I need to get done and I knew if I looked too hard at it I'd have to download and do it. Yours is looking good so far.

  12. I came across the amazing 'Hearts doily' by Dorota a few months ago, and I had a little difficulty gathering all the sections of the pattern together, and finally did print them out. It seems that Dorota has an older blog, and she was working on the hearts doily at the same time that she was starting her new blog "Land of Laces" She even made changes to the design as she went along, which added to the confusion - but what a gorgeous design it is. It will become a classic! It's on my 'to do' list! I'm amazed you tatted the center part so quickly! It's very clever, done in one pass, and made up of 'hearts'.
