Tollway Tatters, July

Despite the intense heat, seven of us managed to get together for Tollway Tatters today. From left to right: me, Mary, Kathy, Glenda, Gail, Thea, and Carrie. We would have loved to have our other tatting friends with us, but we still had a great time!

Carrie has a friend who doesn't tat as much as she used to, and she has given Carrie some wonderful shuttles. Do you recognize my shuttle envy? ;-)

Gail showed us some pieces that she did at the Tatting Corner Lace Days last week. She said she had a wonderful time, and had all of us wishing that we had been able to attend as well.

Kathy worked on a beautiful heart pattern.

I brought along one of Eva Antonucci's designs to work on, but I didn't get very far.

Thea told us about the lovely tatted piece next to her right hand. Her grandmother used to tat these, and the girls could wear them in their hair, held in place with a bobby pin. Thea worked out the pattern and graciously allowed us to take a picture of her pattern. It makes a wonderfully frilly piece of lace.

Glenda was working from my favorite tatting book, Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior. We were enjoying talking so much that Glenda didn't get much tatted either!

Mary was all ready to tat. She's a needle tatter, but...

after some messaging back and forth this past week, I found out that she wanted to learn to shuttle tat. She's a great student, and she did quite well.

All in all, it was a fabulous day! We've set our next meeting for Saturday, August 17, 2019. If you're in the Chicago area, we'd love to have you join us!

  4. I am always looking for new tatting for my hair, would Thea be interested in sharing/selling the pattern? I will probably never be in the Chicago area but love hearing all about your group.

    1. Bernice, are you on Facebook? If you are, join our Tollway Tatters group and you can find the pattern there, or email me and I can send it to you.

    1. We always have a wonderful time when we get together. There's talk of them tearing down the oasis. I hope that's a long way off!
