Tollway Tatters tomorrow!

I'm very excited that Tollway Tatters will be meeting tomorrow! If you're in the Chicago area, please feel free to join us. We meet at the Hinsdale Oasis on 294 at 10 a.m. You'll be able to tell who we are by our tie-dye t-shirts!

Today I managed to do some more tatting in the car. We headed up to daughter Alison's to help with yard work. To be honest, Dave and Alison did the yard work. I mostly watched. I did pull a few weeds, but I'm pretty sure they'd have done just fine without me. ;-)

I'm pretty sure I'll finish this Spinning Wheel glass mat tomorrow... if I don't spend too much time talking!

Lovin' the River

...River Blue Dk, that is!

I was so drawn to this color when I used it to finish Robin Perfetti's Square Coaster, I decided to use it for my next Spinning Wheel glass mat. I think this will be one of my favorite shades of blue!

Square Coaster finished

I finished Robin Perfetti's Square Coaster today, with a couple of hiccups. I was watching the Chicago Cubs baseball game and messed up a corner. I decided to retro-tat rather than snip. Looking back, I wish I had snipped! It took me over two hours to get back to my mistake and fix it. I really think I could have re-tatted in less time. Then when I was pressing it, I noticed that one of the chains is missing a picot and three double stitches. I haven't decided yet, but I may snip the second round and tat it over again.

I do love this pattern, and I was very happy that Lizbeth #709 River Blue Dk is such a good match for the hand-dyed Pond from Yarnplayer.

So what do you think? Should I fix round two or leave well enough alone?

Square Coaster, round 1

Traveling took its toll on me. I was beat today! Not only did I sleep in, I took a nap as well. Somehow, I managed to tat round 1 of Robin Perfetti's Square Coaster from her newest pattern pack, Tatted Coasters. This is the last of my hand-dyed-thread Pond from Yarnplayer, so I will have to choose a coordinating color for the second round.

I was very excited to see my newest tatting shuttles arrive today!

I know I don't need any more shuttles, but when I see these gorgeous woods, I just can't resist!

I think the Bocote shuttle is my favorite. Which one do you like?

Unplugged

I've spent the last few days away from technology, and I will admit that it felt good to be disconnected from electronics. Why? We drove to Minnesota for the twins' baptism. We had a wonderful weekend that went by way too quickly.

I was so unplugged, that I didn't even take out my phone to take pictures. Luckily, several other family members kept track of what was going on all weekend.

Because I ignored technology, I was able to get quite a bit of tatting done.

On the way to Minnesota, I tatted a Spinning Wheel glass mat in size 20 Lizbeth #616, Daffodil Med.

I started this Spinning Wheel when others were sleeping in size 20 Lizbeth #170, Pineapple Parfait.

There were still a couple of hours left of our drive, so I pulled out my carry-along project that has been in my purse for probably two years. I only had three spokes left to tat, so I was able to complete it before we arrived home. This one is in Perfect Quilter #088, Leaf Me Alone. Unfortunately, Perfect Quilter by Superior Threads has been discontinued. When I checked the site, there was only one color remaining. I do like this thread!

Whew!

I had to use the shoelace trick a couple of times, but I had just enough Campfire HDT to finish my coaster.

A couple of shots of steam, and it looks ready to use! The pattern is Rosette Coaster (Variation) from Robin Perfetti's Tatted Coasters. The thread is size 20 Campfire HDT from Yarnplayer.

I can't believe today is the last day of June, my favorite month of the year! Despite all the excitement this year (retirement parties, visiting children and grandchildren, a yard sale, etc.), I still managed to tat seven pieces. I'm quite happy!

Campfire Spinning Wheel

I spent quite a bit of time tatting today, so I was able to finish my Spinning Wheel glass mat. I do love this thread! It's size 20 Campfire hand-dyed thread from Yarnplayer.

I hope I have enough of this beautiful color left to finish Robin Perfetti's Rosette Coaster (Variation) from her new book, Tatted Coasters. So far, I'm loving this pattern!
