Because this is a difficult pattern to follow even with a chart. The second half connections seem backward to me. Well they are, but usually you are connecting rings as you go, not a bunch of rings and picots on one long chain. I'm almost finished with this patterns and have something special planned for it. (If I don't mess it up when I do that last chain . . . or, if it looks as good as yours, even if I do mess up.)
Teresa's right, it is a hard pattern to follow. I've messed it up a few times myself. Consider this a practice piece and have another go at it in time for Valentine's Day. It's such a pretty pattern for showing off a variegated thread.
I have always admired this pattern of Susan's and it's a great one for testing the colorways of variegated threads and HDTs.
I finally tatted my first (and only) one a few months ago, and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who had a little trouble with it. And Frivole recently diagrammed the 'complete heart' which looks pretty amazing, so I want to try it again!
I made a mirror image of half the photo with your 'mistake', and it actually looks pretty cool! However, this 'mismatched' heart looks very nice just as it is!
Oopsie. I hate it when I do that and don't realize it until I'm done. But it's good practice! This is a hard pattern to follow - but your "oops" looks pretty darn good :)
Quite pretty...that thread is gorgeous :-) It actually took me a minute to see the mistake since the color was so lovely, I simply overlooked it at first.
The heart still looks pretty. I was looking at it think if you made the heart with both joins like the 'mistake' it would look pretty that way, too. I did try doing a mirror image like Kathy did, I'm just eyeballing it. It's such a pretty colorway you chose, even if it's not blue ;)
This piece is beautiful. I love it.

ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely gorgeous!!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt happens, Diane. Nonetheless, it's still a pretty motif, only not symmetrical. I can live with it.

ReplyDeleteEven with the mis-join it is still quite lovely. If I hadn't been looking for the mistake I don't think I would have noticed.
ReplyDeleteThe color is lovely and sets it off well.
I love tis hart and the thread is gorgeous.
ReplyDeletevery beautiful heart!!!

ReplyDeleteFor a messup, it sure is pretty. I see that it isn't symmetrical, but it is still a very beautiful heart. Love the thread color, too.
