I finished Day 2 of Jane's TIAS using a split chain and a split ring! It's my first split chain ever! Don't look too closely, because it's not very good, but I did it!
My split ring technique leaves a lot to be desired, and it's not good enough to take the next step in the Jan Stawasz doily that intrigues me. Still, I feel like I'm making progress!
I was so excited about tatting a split chain, I forgot to tell you that Frivole's YouTube video is what got me through. Thank you, Frivole!
becalC 854You're a braver man than I am! - I simply cannot do split chains, so I chose the cautious route. It took a lot longer, though, to finish off all those ends.
ReplyDeletewonder why it shows the word verification? Maybe I typed it in the wrong place.......
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first split chain!! How exciting! It's a lot like covering a plastic ring with stitches; totally the same concept! They make tatting SO much easier to jump out of rounds and not having to tie, cut, and hide. :) I'm enjoying TAIS, too. Can't wait to see what the pattern is!
ReplyDeleteYay! Way to inspire the rest of us :) I have the split rings down, but not the split chain. Yet.
ReplyDeletepractice, practice, practice. And, really, it does look nice in the photo.
ReplyDeleteMe, too! This is maybe my second or third split chain but I decided I would be brave and try it anyway. Split rings aren't a problem but I tried making it hard by not paying close enough attention to Jane's directions.
ReplyDeletePat yourself on the back for a job well done!
Thumbs up for intrepid!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! And I missed Jane's TAIS.....think I can catch up? I'm going to try!
ReplyDeleteOh, No! Okay, it's not my fault I misspelled TIAS....:( I had it that way until I looked at the other comments and changed it because I thought theirs looked better.
ReplyDeleteLooks good, split chain not very good at them, but split rings I am fine on, no idea when I will be able to join you all, staying near Oxford at moment. Thank you for your lovely comment you left on my blog
ReplyDeleteMargaret
I haven't tried split chains yet but yours looks good to me!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking from someone who hasn't done this, it all looks really good from here!!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I know what it feels like to have achieved the technique.
ReplyDeleteoh, congratulations!! those techniques will be used a lot in the items that you do going forward.
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness I have missed many of your recent posts and had to go back and read them. Your work is beautiful...even the ones you think aren't so good. I love the Seahorse Dragon for Aiden. I completely understand the need to build your stash now while you are working. Money but very little time now vs lots of time but very little money in retirement. Creative hearts are Happy Hearts Dear...
