Baiduri was a fun snowflake to tat! I think I should have used longer picots, because when finished there was a lot of cupping. I was able to tame it with my steam iron, but I will use longer picots next time! This is the 4th pattern in Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff.
Again, I used size 20 Lizbeth, Arctic Waters. The finished size is 4 1/2" across. I've ordered some 5" craft rings, and I'm hoping to successfully mount my snowflakes in the rings. I may have to drive to Michigan to get some help from my friend Sue. Road trip!
I finished another scarf this weekend. This one measures 60" after wet finishing, so there was more shrinkage than with the last scarf. Is 60" long enough? Should I make them longer? They're about 10" wide. I'd love to get your feedback!
Bluetiful Snowflake and how lovely it will look in a ring. This scarf is delicious in blues and lavenders. It looks so cozy and warm and comfortable. Creative Fiber Bliss...
ReplyDeleteSo are you selling them? The scarves that is. 5 ft should be fine.
ReplyDeleteBeauitful snowflake, love the colour of the thread.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous scarf.
Margaret
That snowflake is wonderful!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the road trip.....sounds good to me! :)
Your scarf is beautiful!!! :)
So many pretties! Your snowflake is a delicate delight and that scarf, truly scrumptious! Sixty inches is long enough -- when I knit a scarf for my myself I usually make it somewhere between 60 and 72. But I have LONG ARMS and like to wrap them around my shoulders when I am sitting at the computer. So I make mine almost shawl width and extra long.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tatting and the weaving looks warm very appealing for this time of year! I always thought that tatting is a summertime thing, but I seem to not follow that rule as well.
ReplyDeleteYour snowflakes are all turning out very pretty. I'm making snowflakes also. What fun.
ReplyDeleteAll of your Jon's snowflakes are beautiful, and I like your weaving so much as well.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful scarf! It must be fun to make them so quickly! I definitely think that 60" is a perfect length.
ReplyDeleteAnd your snowflakes are progressing nicely!
The scarf is beautiful--gorgeous colors, and smooth, even weaving!
ReplyDeleteI'm on a snowflake kick right now too, and love the patterns you're using! Fantastic work, as always!
"Elegant Tatting Gems" by Jon is wonderful, like your snowflakes!
ReplyDeleteII personally do not like extra long scarves. 60” would suit me just fine! : )
