A good start

I got a good start on round 4 of Renulek's Spring Doily 2026. I had a little bit of a rough start. I joined the first ring in the wrong place two times. On the third ring I notice that I had wrapped the thread around the motif on the previous row. Of course I noticed it after I closed the ring!

Still, once I had the first pattern repeat completed, I realized that this round is going to be a fairly easy one to tat.

I did manage to tat a doodad ornament today. Any progress is good progress!

  1. Isn’t it annoying when you make the same mistake twice? Looking good now , you’re on your way.

  2. Do you choose your colours before you start or do you ‘wait and see’ until after you’ve done a round? I like that new round. Shame about the boo boos.

    1. I have eight balls of thread chosen that I think will go well together. I haven't chosen the order they will be used, and I may change my mind add or delete colors. I'm trying to stick with what I have in my stash. I do choose the next color once I've finished a round.

  3. That’s roughly what I do but always have to change some colours as when they’re tatted they sometimes don’t look quite right.

Ti capisco benissimo, quando vedi un errore è difficile ignorarlo.
