Adiratna

Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff is one of my favorite tatting books, so opening it up to tat a snowflake was a no-brainer.

Adiratna is the first snowflake in the book. It's one I've tatted many times, and I never get tired of tatting it! It's about 3 3/4" across in size 20 Lizbeth, #185. 

With snow reported in our area this morning... I never saw any, but it was on Facebook, so it must be true ;-)... it seemed that tatting a snowflake was very appropriate!

Adiratna

It was hot and humid today, so when I returned from a morning of working at school, I decided to tat a snowflake.

"Adiratna" is from Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff. I was so flattered when Jon asked me to test tat patterns for this book a couple of years ago, and I do love every single snowflake. I've lost track of how many snowflakes I've tatted from this book, but I know I haven't tatted them all, and I'm pretty sure I've never tatted any of them in white... what a strange concept... a white snowflake! ;-)

In a funk?

All I wanted to do was tat a cross bookmark. I've tatted "Christina" from Tatted Bookmarks - cross-shaped by Lene Bjorn several times. After two failed attempts...

I switched to "Maria."

I know where the mistakes are, even if you can't see them!

I also struggled with "Adiratna" from Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff.

I'm not quite sure where I went wrong, but it's just not quite right.

Maybe I should take a hint from Fox and try tatting in a solid color!

Adiratna

I suddenly have the urge to tat snowflakes! I think I'm going to try and work my way through Jon's wonderful book, Elegant Tatting Gems. I've already tatted over half the patterns, but I don't believe it's possible to have too many beautiful snowflakes!

This is the first pattern in the book, Adiratna. I used size 20 Lizbeth, color #130. I know it's not a traditional snowflake color, but white seemed so boring! : )
