Juicy Watermelon

 

Today I tatted with size 20 Lizbeth Juicy Watermelon.

I love this color! I also love the pendants I've made with it.

I'm seriously considering keeping the bottom two for myself. I can't decide which one I like best!

Feeling my age

I'm feeling my age today. Daughter Carol texted me this morning and asked if I could run copies of the play programs for this weekend, something I've helped out with for years. It's amazing how tired one can get from standing in front of a copy machine. By the end of the day, I was really feeling worn out!

I was feeling restless before I headed into school, and I had a hard time settling on what I wanted to work on today. I finally decided to just continue with another Doodle Ice Drop, and I'm glad I did! This one is in size 20 Lizbeth #156, Juicy Watermelon. I have loved this color ever since it was first introduced. The shuttle is another beauty from Sherry Pence (LadyShuttleMaker).

Since I was so tired after school, I decided the best thing I could do was sit and tat. I think it's a very logical choice! This time I used size 20 Lizbeth #683, Leaf Green Light. The shuttle is a Dreamlit from Handy Hands that I decorated with nail decals. I love working with pretty shuttles!

Finally!

I finished my birthday giveaway!

I found this adorable fabric when daughter Joanne was visiting back in April. I knew what I wanted for my birthday giveaway, but somehow I didn't manage to get around to it until this week. I really need to keep some of those round tuits on hand.

Anyway, the winner is receiving the Origami pouch bag, two decorated shuttles, and a bookmark in Juicy Watermelon. I have a matching set, so the winner and I will be Twinkies... at least that's what the kids at school tell me!

I received a new shuttle and a key chain from Irene Ho yesterday. Irene's dad carved the shuttle out of bamboo, and I am lucky to be one of the people she chose to test it out. It is so smooth and warm to the touch. It did take a little bit of adjustment. For a little while I was catching the thread in the fork. I adapted quickly, though! It's the shuttle I used to tat the Juicy Watermelon bookmark.

Granddaughter Eva called me this morning to let me know that she's working on her chain. A few of her stitches didn't flip, and she can tell because she can see the green instead of the pink. Now, I call that progress! Oh, and she's teaching her mom (Alison) to tat!

It's incredibly hot here, and my sinuses are not liking the current weather pattern. I guess that's as good excuse as any to sit around and tat!

Oh... did you want to know who won my 60th birthday/5th blogaversary giveaway? Allison! Congratulations! Don't you think it's appropriate that a young lady who just graduated with a horticulture degree should win a bag and shuttles decorated with watermelon-inspired flowers?

Lovin' Mary Konior!

Yup... I had the urge to tat another Spinning Wheel glass mat by Mary Konior! The Lizbeth "Juicy Watermelon" just kept calling my name and urging me to tat with it! What's a girl to do?

I did decide to expand my horizons and tat another design from Mary's fabulous Tatting with Visual Patterns. Call me silly, but I never had the urge to tat the little piece in Lizbeth "Caribbean" because of it's name... "Dress Trim." I didn't have a dress I wanted to trim, so there was no need to tat it!

The other night, I was taking a break from tatting, and I decided to read... yes, I said READ... some of Tatting with Visual Patterns. I was interested in Mary's information on designing with hexagons. Funny, I had never thought of this design as a hexagon until I read the information. Sometimes I can be so dense!

So now my next decision is... do I content myself with one motif and move on to another design? Or, should I tat some more and make a doily or a table scarf? I guess I'll just have to wait and see where inspiration takes me!
