Remember this?

It wasn't too long ago that I posted this picture of my newest Ice Drop. the more I look at it, the more I like it! I hadn't decided on a name, and I did receive many wonderful suggestions bother here and on Facebook. I have to go with the name my mom suggested, because she is my mom and I always value her suggestions.

Oh, you'd like to know what name Mom suggested? Frivolity. I think it fits. I had to re-tat it today so that I could write down the instructions.

I haven't typed them up yet, but for those of you who just can't wait, I took a picture of my notes.

There are only three motifs left to tat on my Masquerade doily! This one will be finished soon!

I managed to sew another origami pouch today. I do love this fabric!

Lessons

This morning Becky and Kami came over for sewing lessons. Today we made Origami pouches. I've made plenty of these before, but never one this small. I followed a different tutorial that does not require any hand sewing. It's a nice little bag, but I think I might go back to the tutorial I've always used in the past from Quiltsalott so that I can have a slightly bigger bag.

I experimented with Tamie Alliss's Beaded Bloom today. I tried one less ring. Yesterday's looked a little squished to me, and this one looks a little stretched. I'm going to keep experimenting until I find what works for me.

Dave finished work early today, so we went over to daughter Carol's house to start cutting down one of the two dead trees left in her yard. Dave, Carol, Nick, Jon, and Alex worked on the tree for about three hours, while I supervised.

When we got home, I finished another Masquerade motif for my doily. I started an Ice Drop at Carol's, but I didn't have a crochet hook with me for joining. I did try to join using the pick on the shuttle, but I kept shredding the thread. I figured it was better to give up than to ruin the thread!

Ahh!

I'm sitting down to post after a very busy and productive weekend. I wasn't in the mood to post last night, so I didn't. I guess that's my prerogative!

My fascination with little woven squares continues. These will get mailed off to Mom this week so that she can turn them in to flowers. I can hardly wait to see what she does with them!

I finished my Raspberry Pink Med Spinning Wheel. Yes, I am still enjoying using size 80 Lizbeth!

I finished another fabric basket this afternoon. This is the project my sewing students are working on. I had purchased some inexpensive hankies a while back, and they seemed like the perfect fabric for the girls to use. I love the little owl buttons!

I also made a fabric basket for Mom using the same fabrics I used to make her pin cushions last week.

I haven't made Origami pouches in a while, but I thought Mom deserved a complete set! I do like the black, red, and white fabric. I may have to go back to Hobby Lobby and buy some more!

Now I'm ready to settle down for the evening with another Spinning Wheel. This one will be in size 80 Lizbeth #712, Kelly Green Med. I love Kelly Green!

2013 Indiana Lace Day

The Lafayette Lacemakers held their Indiana Lace Day today, and Denise and I headed out early this morning! Well, we thought it was early. We forgot that even though Lafayette is only an hour and a half away, they're in a different time zone!

Before we did anything else, we chatted with two friends we made at previous Lace Days, Carol and Carolyn. Unfortunately, I never thought to take even one picture! So, you only get to see pictures that I took after I arrived home.

Let me tell you, I am the luckiest girl alive!

Way back in January, Battatter asked what we would like to see in 3D tatting. In case you didn't know, she does fabulous 3D tatting. Her bats are unbelievable! Anyway, I replied that I would like to see a grandfather clock. I love grandfather clocks... it's kind of a family thing. I was so surprised when she gave me my very own 3D grandfather clock today!

Do you recognize the face? It's Grandfather Clock from Captain Kangaroo! Grandfather Clock was my favorite character! Thank you, Carol! This will be my most treasured tatting gift forever!

Oh, and do you see the pretty blue origami pouch in the background? I won it! It was made by another dear tatting friend, Lelia from Stitches of Life II.

...and it was stuffed with goodies! I wish you could have been there, Lelia. It was a great day, and now I have one of your origami pouches!

Yes, there was some retail therapy today... tatting shuttles, thread, books, patterns, bobbins... but I'll save all that for another post. I wouldn't want you to be too jealous of all the fun we had!

Back when I first started blogging, many tatters were decorating jeans bags. I even joined in the fun, but I don't know where my jeans bag is now... probably some place really safe. ;-)

Anyway, this past summer I started thinking that it would be fun to decorate an Origami pouch with tatting. So I bought some fabric that I thought would be perfect for embellishing and started making bags. I worked on finishing them this week... better late than never! This one is my favorite. Did you notice that it's blue?

Now I need to figure out how I want to decorate it!

I'm making pretty good progress on my Pansy Spinning Wheel. I really like the way the colors flow, and I can hardly wait to finish it!
